Canon Novel Review: The High Republic – Mission to Disaster

High Republic Mission to Disaster Review Mynock Manor 1

Spoiler Free Review –

The High Republic’s first Phase is coming to a close and Mission to Disaster, written by Justina Ireland, is one of the opening novels of the final wave. Focusing on characters Ireland first introduced in the opening wave, the novel deals with Jedi Knight Vernestra Rwoh trying to save Avon Starros, and other children, when it becomes clear the Nihil have started kidnapping kids to bolster their ranks. Mission to Disaster, never shying away from the ramifications and its deeper subject matters, while adding to fan-favorite characters and building out a convincing ecosystem,  is one of Ireland’s best entries of the era so far. Star Wars Comics December 2021 Solicitations

Star Wars Comics December 2021 Solicitations

Normally December is a month of mid-winter celebrations, but Star Wars comics looks to be anything but joyous and cheerful, as the underworld is in chaos due to Crimson Dawn’s startling return, Vader’s leading a crew to take them down, Aphra and Sana find themselves dealing with an ancient cult (if they’re elves, that would at least be festive), while The High Republic era content doesn’t seem any more uplifting with murder investigations and the deadly Lourna Dee holding a lightsaber. Grab yourself some spiked eggnog, you’re going to need it, before checking out December 2021’s Star Wars comic solicitations! Continue reading “Star Wars Comics December 2021 Solicitations”

Canon Novel Review: The High Republic – Out of the Shadows

The High Republic Out of the Shadows Review Mynock Manor

Non-Spoiler and Spoiler Review

The final novel release of The High Republic’s Phase I, Wave II, Out of the Shadows by Justina Ireland is a riveting character-focused journey which might feel small scale but the ramifications of its events bursts open the era, begging for readers to see where it goes next. I’d go so far as to say Out of the Shadows nearly tied with Wave II’s adult novel, The Rising Storm, as my favorite of the era/Phase so far.
