By July, with the War of the Bounty Hunters mega-crossover in full swing, you might find yourself if the frozen popsicle of Han Solo will really be worth all this trouble or you might be enjoying the shenanigans of this interconnected, multi-series story too much to sweat the small stuff. As the solicitations for July’s Star Wars comics promise (so far, as these are only initial ones via the official site’s blog, so expect updates later this week. War of the Bounty Hunters Roundup Week

The deal with the War of the Bounty Hunters crossover keeps getting larger all the time! Initially it seemed like this would be a simple crossover that led to a miniseries, but it became clear that was just a small part of Marvel’s big plan for this storyline. Over at the official site, they’ve spent most of the week unveiling variant covers from artist Giuseppe Camuncoli (Darth Vader: Dark Lord of the Sith), though they ended with a neat look with artist Steve McNiven behind-the-scenes of the upcoming Alpha issue that launches the whole crossover, and the announcement of 4 extra tie-ins that flesh out the crossovers’ story. Arriving alongside the adult novel Light of the Jedi, Justina Ireland’s middle-grade novel A Test of Courage helps kick off and expand the nascent The High Republic era! Following one of the youngest Jedi Knights, Vernestra Rwoh, on what starts as a routine babysitting mission of a Senator’s tinkering daughter, Avon Starros, that quickly turns into a tricky survivalist story, A Test of Courage is an excellent read, as it makes the new era accessible to more readers, and despite a smaller focus, offers important details to help build out the larger picture. Whether it’s the previous excerpts or various teases in comics/novels, The High Republic era’s villains, the Nihil, haven’t been heard from much. That all changed recently with an article on the official site, detailing some Nihil characters and a creepy new monster, and in an excerpt from Justina Ireland’s A Test of Courage, where we’re smack-dab in the middle of the Nihil’s POV as they carry out a nefarious mission to spread their particular brand of chaos. But wait, there’s more! Of course while I’m on my honeymoon, more news drops, so below you’ll also find more concept art, this time of the some Padawans, while it was revealed the VR game Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge will offer a tie-in experience by going on a mission with Yoda! NYCC 2020: The High Republic Panel Reveals More Books Coming Summer 2021!

Conventions and their panels can thankfully still happen virtually, so Lucasfilm provided The High Republic with its own NYCC 2020 panel to tease what’s about to release and reveal even more stories yet to come! Summer 2021 will see THR‘s story continue in three new novels, yet untitled: Cavan Scott will write an adult novel from Del Rey, Justina Ireland will write the next YA novel for Disney-Lucasfilm Press, and Daniel José Older will pen the middle grade novel, also from DLF. And while THR launches properly in January, you can get your first taste of the era in December thanks to Titan when they bring back serialized stories to Star Wars Insider with a story penned by Charles Soule!
