Whether it’s the previous excerpts or various teases in comics/novels, The High Republic era’s villains, the Nihil, haven’t been heard from much. That all changed recently with an article on the official site, detailing some Nihil characters and a creepy new monster, and in an excerpt from Justina Ireland’s A Test of Courage, where we’re smack-dab in the middle of the Nihil’s POV as they carry out a nefarious mission to spread their particular brand of chaos. But wait, there’s more! Of course while I’m on my honeymoon, more news drops, so below you’ll also find more concept art, this time of the some Padawans, while it was revealed the VR game Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge will offer a tie-in experience by going on a mission with Yoda! (Update: THR has begun and our reviews are rolling in!) Continue reading “The High Republic News: Villainous Nihil Take Center Stage in Art/Excerpt, VR Tie-in Revealed, And More!”

NYCC 2020: The High Republic Panel Reveals More Books Coming Summer 2021!
Conventions and their panels can thankfully still happen virtually, so Lucasfilm provided The High Republic with its own NYCC 2020 panel to tease what’s about to release and reveal even more stories yet to come! Summer 2021 will see THR‘s story continue in three new novels, yet untitled: Cavan Scott will write an adult novel from Del Rey, Justina Ireland will write the next YA novel for Disney-Lucasfilm Press, and Daniel José Older will pen the middle grade novel, also from DLF. And while THR launches properly in January, you can get your first taste of the era in December thanks to Titan when they bring back serialized stories to Star Wars Insider with a story penned by Charles Soule! Head below for some of the teases from the authors in the short panel and the pages for Marvel’s The High Republic seen in the video…or watch it all above! The High Republic Website Launches, First Look at Yoda
We might have to wait until January 2021 for the launch of The High Republic and thankfully Lucasfilm is providing a steady drip of new details and teases which help keep it in our collective consciousness. Today, The High Republic received a landing page on the official site, full of updated looks at Jedi like Avar Kriss, Keeve Trennis, and…Yoda (!), among other features. Head below for a look at just over-the-hill Yoda, a Trandoshan Jedi, and more details! The High Republic Teases Continue: A Test of Courage Excerpt Released!
With the cancellation of Star Wars Celebration this year, and the subsequent delay of The High Republic until January 2021, building hype for the upcoming publishing initiative has certainly needed to change shape and from. First we got the opening chapter of Light of the Jedi and now an excerpt from A Test of Courage, the middle grade novel launching alongside LotJ on January 5! In it, we get to meet Vernestra Rwoh, the youngest Jedi Knight at 15, and Avon Starros (a distant relative of Sana Starros!), a young inventor. Their dynamic is a blast to read in this short sample, and I hope the rest of the book can live up to the interactions here. I’m also very curious to see if Avon’s line about inventing something to block the Force will potentially come into play, considering THR is supposed to last for multiple years/phases, while Vern’s phantoms in the Force should offer plenty of intrigue as well. Head below for a sample and the cover, otherwise head to the official site for the full excerpt! (Update: THR has begun and our reviews are rolling in!) The High Republic Launch Moved to January 2021
In an unfortunate but completely understandable move, considering the unprecedented situation facing the world, the launch of The High Republic publishing initiative has been delayed until January 2021. This news seemed inevitable after last week’s updated Star Wars comic solicitations for August did not include a single issue of The High Republic’s comic series, and delaying the whole initiative since the comics couldn’t come out in time shows how important every medium is in telling this new and exciting story. As sad as this development might be, a note included with the official site’s blog post about the delay, written by creative director of Lucasfilm Publishing Michael Siglain, offered some tantalizing teases of what’s to come. We dive into those teases below! (Update: THR has begun and our reviews are rolling in!) Continue reading “The High Republic Launch Moved to January 2021”

Project Luminous Reveal Coming February 24
Luminous, the mysterious upcoming publishing project, has been teased by Lucasfilm since Star Wars Celebration Chicago 2019 in April, with nary a detail since. We were originally promised it would be revealed in January 2020, but several reporters and journalists have been invited to a reveal event for Project Luminous on February 24, 2020. The vague “January” promise always felt like it wouldn’t happen, so it’s no surprise it would happen another month, and regardless it’s really nice to have a set and solid date. Head below the cut for what little details we received so far, and what some of the rumors point towards. Continue reading “Project Luminous Reveal Coming February 24”
