Darth Vader #18

– Spoiler Review –

Darth Vader #18 is the penultimate issue of “The Shu-Torun War,” where Cylo enacts his plans to bring Vader down, Queen Trios makes a surprising but interesting choice, and everyone’s favorite pair of murderous droids have some of their best material yet. Canon Comic Review: Darth Vader #17

Darth Vader #17

– Spoiler Review –

Darth Vader #17 brings some interesting life to “The Shu-Torun War,” by showing Vader up to his usual blunt violence and ratcheting up the intrigue with various players moving behind the scenes for their own gains (and Vader’s death). Also, the issue has a surprise regarding Cylo’s relationship with Vader, which probably shouldn’t be that much of a surprise in the first place. Canon Comic Review: Darth Vader #16

Darth Vader #16

Spoiler Review –

After Darth Vader’s deadly show of force and Force prowess in the crossover event, Vader Down, he’s back in his own comic series with a new arc, “The Shu-Torun War.” Darth Vader #16 brings back the thinking man’s Vader the series has been so well known (and loved) for, while setting him up for a crash course with his biggest and most threatening rivals yet. Canon Comic Review: Darth Vader #15 – Vader Down Part 6

Darth Vader #15 - Vader Down Part 6

Spoiler Review –

It all comes down to this: Commander Karbin has shown his hand, intending to take out the rebels and Vader in one fell swoop. Han’s life is on the line. Luke is captured (again) by the Imperials. Aphra is on Vader’s naughty-list. And Leia is facing the biggest decision of her life. Darth Vader #15, part 6 of the Vader Down crossover event, wraps it all up in a grand, but somewhat unsurprising ending, while revealing Vader Down had just as big a role for Leia as it did Vader. Continue reading “Canon Comic Review: Darth Vader #15 – Vader Down Part 6”

Canon Comic Review: Darth Vader #14 – Vader Down Part 4

Darth Vader #14 - Vader Down Part 4

Spoiler Review –

Leia makes a surprising (but understandable) choice, Dr. Aphra’s hairy ally joins the fray, and the being responsible for the events within Vader Down arrives to take out his main rival. Darth Vader #14, part 4 of Vader Down, is an entertaining issue where everyone gets put into place for the last two issues of this crossover event. Canon Comic Review: Darth Vader Annual #1

Darth Vader Annual #1

Spoiler Review –

The Darth Vader series gets its first Annual issue, which showcases the Dark Lord’s thinking man’s brutality as he puts a manufacturing planet of ore into line for the Empire (with a little help from Triple-Zero and Beetee) and leaves a “gift” no one will soon forget. Continue reading “Canon Comic Review: Darth Vader Annual #1”

Canon Comic Review: Star Wars Annual #1

Star Wars Annual #1

Spoiler Review –

The Star Wars on-going series gets its first Annual issue, which breaks off from the current on-going story (we’re in the middle of the crossover event Vader Down as of this writing) and instead focuses on a rebel spy, Eneb Ray, who’s been undercover in the Imperial government for years. When a chance at killing the Emperor appears, will Eneb risk everything he and other Rebellion spies on Coruscant have worked for all these years? Strong writing and a few twists keep the tale exciting, but with a well-wrapped up story, it doesn’t really leave one wanting more. Continue reading “Canon Comic Review: Star Wars Annual #1”

Canon Comic Review: Darth Vader #13 – Vader Down Part 2

Darth Vader #13 - Vader Down Part 2

Spoiler Review –

Darth Vader #13 is part 2 of the crossover event between it and the Star Wars series called Vader Down. With Vader stranded on Vrogas Vas, surrounded by rebels and with more on the way, he proves why he’s a Dark Lord of the Sith by not letting anything stand in the way of him reaching his son, who’s also stranded on the planet. Deadly, entertaining, and exciting, Darth Vader‘s 13th issue starts to show the potential of crossing over these two series. Darth Vader #12

Canon Comic Review: Darth Vader #11

Darth Vader #11

Spoiler Review –

Inspector Thanoth gets ever closer to uncovering the truth about the missing Imperial credits, forcing Aphra, her two destructive droids, and Vader into some really tight spots. Aphra fans (like myself), things aren’t looking so good for our favorite archaeologist after Darth Vader #11.
