Focusing on Heroes and Villains from all three current eras, with different writers and artists for each Age, the Age of Star Wars maxiseries was an ambitious and interesting project from the start. While it didn’t always live up to expectations, it brought deep explorations of fan favorites and little glimpses into unseen moments Continue reading “Canon Comic Maxiseries Review: Age of Star Wars”

Canon Comic Miniseries Review: TIE Fighter
Billed as a crossover event between Marvel and Del Rey’s Alphabet Squadron novel, Jody Houser’s TIE Fighter miniseries came with expectations it wasn’t designed to meet. Having had some time to think on the series, and rereading it all together, TIE Fighter’s character focus certainly engaged, but it was never enough for readers to neither connect to the characters nor distract from plots which ended before you even realized they started, but had it not been linked to the novel, maybe it would’ve had a better chance. Canon Comic Miniseries Review: Age of Rebellion
Age of Rebellion is the middle “Age” of the Age of Star Wars maxiseries, but having to follow in the footsteps of Houser and team’s Republic seemed like a difficult job. Greg Pak, a few other writers, and the various artists along for the ride delved into the latest “Age” with aplomb, and while most of it was simply good, it’s highs were quite the zenith. Canon Comic Review: Target Vader #1
Target Vader finds a group of bounty hunters, one from Legends past, out to take down, you guessed it, Darth Vader himself. With issue #1, this latest Vader-focused series might be playing a bit too much into the nostalgia factor with a Legends resurrection and can’t quite avoid making readers ask “why more Vader,” but it does have some intriguing mysteries I might want to see solved. In the interest of time, I’m only reviewing the first issue, but will return to review the whole miniseries once it’s completed later this year. Continue reading “Canon Comic Review: Target Vader #1”

The plot thickens for Shadow Wing as they face an unexpected enemy in TIE Fighter #2, the next installment of the Alphabet Squadron novel tie-in miniseries, while a back-up story delights with the little details. Continue reading “Canon Comic Review: TIE Fighter #2”
Canon Comic Review: Age of Rebellion – Boba Fett #1
– Spoiler Review –
Age of Rebellion – Boba Fett #1 does what most of Legends really couldn’t do for me with the character, making his older-aged appearances compelling, by going full Western/Man With No Name, while the gorgeous art brings the experience to vivid life. Continue reading “Canon Comic Review: Age of Rebellion – Boba Fett #1”
Canon Comic Review: Age of Rebellion – Grand Moff Tarkin #1
– Spoiler Review –
The second issue of Greg Pak’s Age of Rebellion had a lot more to prove to me than its first, the Leia issue, as I feel like its character has had his time in the spotlight, but Age of Rebellion – Grand Moff Tarkin #1 proves me wrong by taking off his shirt. I kid…for the most part. Head below for why! Continue reading “Canon Comic Review: Age of Rebellion – Grand Moff Tarkin #1”
