It doesn’t seem possible that we’re already at the 10th Anniversary of Rogue One‘s release, but maybe it’s because we just finished Andor last year? Or I don’t want to admit the passage of time? After an intriguing and interesting opening issue, Star Wars (2025) started to slide into too much tell and not enough show through issues #2-5. And then it ran into the limits of Marvel’s less than brilliant plan with truncated runs, leaving the final group of issues, #6-10, an unfortunate victim where conveniences, shortcuts, and a rushed ending are all fans were left with. Hitting its fifth issue in January, Rodney Barnes and Roman Rosanas’ Han Solo: Hunt for the Falcon miniseries comes to an end. Much of the potential glimpsed in its opening issue fizzles out by the end, as not even the search itself remains entertaining. However, interactions with Chewbacca, brief touches on home life with Leia, and whip-smart dialogue are highlights, yet they aren’t enough to overcome the shortcomings. After the Sith Lords got to flex their might in the pages of the two previous Black, White & Red miniseries, Marvel went for a change of pace. Despite his gear being anything but black and red, the notorious bounty hunter Boba Fett got his chance to show off his particular set of skills in the unique format, and all the creative teams involved rose to the challenge. Boba Fett: Black, White & Red turned out to be the series’ best, reinvigorating the concept with memorable stories and exceptional art. Han Solo: Hunt for the Falcon #1 celebrates 10 (!!) years since The Force Awakens by filling in some blanks regarding everyone’s favorite scoundrel and smuggler (unless you’re Kanjiklub), as he searches for his lost beloved: the Millennium Falcon. Marvel celebrated 10 years of taking back over Star Wars comics this January via A New Legacy #1, a special one-shot which brings together several notable writers and artists from the past 10 years with a series of short stories focusing on characters created in the comics. While it at least starts strong, and overall is a fun time, what it’s lacking makes it an overall (good and bad) fitting representation of their 10 years of comics.
