After an intriguing and interesting opening issue, Star Wars (2025) started to slide into too much tell and not enough show through issues #2-5. And then it ran into the limits of Marvel’s less than brilliant plan with truncated runs, leaving the final group of issues, #6-10, an unfortunate victim where conveniences, shortcuts, and a rushed ending are all fans were left with. For Valentine’s Day 2026, I think I have my poem for Marvel’s Star Wars team all set and ready: “Roses are red, violets are blue, why aren’t you letting these stories grow and build and continue?” Because due to their penchant to worry more about sales and trying to gum those up with #1 relaunches over fan loyalty and interest in a story, the February 2026 Star Wars comics solicitations are as sparse as they get, as while Dark Horse has many delays so it’s often hard to pin down when something’s coming out but at least it does, Marvel only has two for the first time in…well as far back as I can remember…and neither will continue into March. But will Marvel have anything for March? It’s a question without an answer at the moment, so let’s just enjoy some Jar-Jar and more Bad Batch solicitations for February 2026, okay? Another year goes by and another one begins, one usually filled with a bunch of fun and interesting Star Wars Comics, but 2026 isn’t looking so bright. On Marvel’s end, there are only three to enjoy, and (maybe) two of those are finales, while for Dark Horse, as long as there are no delays, there are two issues to read and one is a finale. Hopefully by December 2025 we’ll still have free speech and not be totally overrun by the fascists, but I can confirm we’ll have more intriguing Star Wars Comics to look forward to…that’s nice, at least? Last November at our annual Thanksgiving Day football game, I messed up my hamstring and got teased by my wife for like a week, something I’d gladly have instead of no new Doctor Aphra: Chaos Agent for November 2025’s Star Wars comics! Despite the good doctor’s absence (I’m not sensing anything nefarious and don’t let others mislead you it could be), there’s still some big moments to go with a big holiday meal (if you’re in a place which celebrates, but I don’t blame you for not being these days!), as we’ll learn a lot about Qui-Gon Jinn’s would-be assassin, Rey and Finn encounter a deadly spirit, Kylo Ren will explore the depths of his grandfather’s Mustafar castle, revolution comes to the New Republic’s problems, and more! While I can’t guarantee much these days, I can guarantee October means another birthday for me! It’s also where the spooky and comfortable fall season really kicks into high gear, so it’s usually a win-win all around. It’s weird to think, last September saw the end of the previous era of comic stories come to an end, and now in 2025, we’re not only seeing several new series begin, we’re already enjoying stories from the new era. What a difference one year can make! For September 2025’s Star Wars comics solicitations, both Boba Fett and Han Solo are going hunting but for far different targets, Doctor Aphra finds herself caught between a Wookiee fight, a Star Wars boogeyman is born in the Nightlands of Ryloth, battle droids are still clomping around post-Return of the Jedi, and so much more! August represents one of the last few months of summer weather here in the States, but for Star Wars comics it represents a sad finality as well: no more The High Republic related comics?! Since 2020, ahead of the era’s launch in January 2021, the solicitations have pretty much always had some High Republic title, but by August 2025…the current storytelling in the era is over.
