Of all the panels and news to come for Star Wars Celebration Japan 2025, the Star Wars: Visions panel was my most anticipated considering the series would return to Japan’s legendary anime scene and several returning studios were coming back for more, leaving me eager to learn if that meant continuations for some of Vol. 1‘s best or not. My dreams not only came true, as sequels to “The Duel,” “The Village Bride,” and “The Ninth Jedi” are on their way, while the rest of the new stories look to set up for more visually arresting and intriguing new takes on the franchise, but my wildest expectations were blown out of the water when it was announced there would be a whole series around the world of “The Ninth Jedi”!!!!!! What?!?!!!! It’s a bold new direction for Visions and I’m so here for it! Visions Vol. 3 is out October 29, while Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi will follow in 2026. The second day of Star Wars Celebration Japan 2025 started with a focus on Star Wars’ TV future, one release more imminent than the other. Andor took the starting morning slot, hyping up a show I don’t think many fans need much hype for at this point (but the general public might), while the first details on Ahsoka’s second season, like Anakin Skywalker’s return, Rory McCann’s casting as Baylan Skoll, a panel-only teaser, and more took up the eponymous character’s panel. Set at the tail-end of the Clone Wars, Zero Company is a brand-new turn-based tactics game developed by Bit Reactor, in collaboration with Respawn Entertainment and Lucasfilm Games, and is scheduled for 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (and I bet Switch 2). The first trailer sets the mood very well, with small introductions to the game’s original characters, and a brief glimpse of gameplay, while the panel dove into extra details on what to expect. There’s still more fun to be had in Star Wars Outlaws, as the second DLC pack, A Pirate’s Fortune, launches on May 15! We got our first look with the trailer above, featuring Hondo Ohnaka (Jim Cummings) rather extensively, as well as a lot of ship combat in new environments! From The Clone Wars to Star Wars Rebels and The Bad Batch, it’s hard to believe we’ve only had 20 years of Lucasfilm Animation goodness, as the impact these shows have had on all aspects of the franchise grows every year. At Star Wars Celebration Japan 2025, a panel celebrated this milestone with a lovely tribute video, a very packed poster, a discussion with Dave Filoni, Athena Portillo, and David Collins, a screening of the first Asajj Ventress of the upcoming Tales of the Underworld series, and the big reveal: Maul: Shadow Lord is a brand-new series launching in 2026! While it was billed as The Mandalorian and Grogu panel, Star Wars Celebration Japan 2025’s first panel decided to start with a surprise: Shawn Levy’s rumored film was not only confirmed, but it’s star Ryan Gosling was brought on stage, the title Starfighter was revealed, and it’s next to go into production with a release date of May 28, 2027! It wasn’t all about Ken, as new behind-the-scenes photos were shared from Grogu’s Day Out, additional details, and footage was shown to attendees (you can find it if you know where to look), hyping up 2026’s film.
