The High Republic Phase 2 Detailed, New Books, Covers, Characters Revealed! (SWCA 2022)
Out of all the panels they live-streamed on Day 1 of Star Wars Celebration Anaheim 2022, thankfully it included the nearly hour-long The High Republic panel, which saw the luminous authors, Michael Siglain, Kristina Arielle, and more on the stage together for the first time in a long time, peeling back all the layers on October’s Phase 2 start. There’s tons of new concept art, covers, and title reveals, as well as unique little details on just how much more Wild West 150 years prior to Phase 1’s start the galaxy really is. It’s been just over two months since the last The High Republic Show and a little over a month since Phase I wrapped up its story, so it’s been quiet in the era of The High Republic for fans (unless those rumors of a live-action TV show are true…), but even this newest batch of details and interviews is enough to breathe life back into the discussion ahead of Star Wars Celebration and likely a lot of news there. The High Republic Show: Phase II Novels, Comics, Art Book Announced, And More!
With the first Phase of The High Republic nearly at an end, the final comic issues dropping March, the latest The High Republic Show was focused more on how we got here, Krystina Arielle’s cool new digs and fan-made costume, and discussing much of what’s transpired since The Fallen Star‘s release in January, plus a suggestion on which piece to read to finish Phase I, Wave III. There were some reveals for Phase II: Quest of the Jedi, like who’s writing what, from Zoraida Córdova kicking off the new story with the adult novel and Claudia Gray behind a comic book, as well as a much requested and really exciting Art of The High Republic book, but it was focused mainly on the journey so far and teases of the future (5 or so years total in story) and I think it was well-deserved considering how fandom has accepted the initiative since its launch, though it also mentioned something fandom has been rallying against for sometime. Novel Review: From a Certain Point of View – The Empire Strikes Back
The idea for the original From a Certain Point of View garnered tons of attention for its nearly endless possibilities to reshape such classic films, giving them new life even 40 years after their debut. Thankfully it seems to be a tradition, at least for now since the prequels won’t have the opportunity for another 20 years (and let’s not even talk about how old I’d be when the sequels would hit the milestone…), to take the original trilogy films and retell them from new, interesting, and unexpected points of view, which brings us to From a Certain Point of View: The Empire Strikes Back. Stronger across the board in its stories, with more consistently engaging tales and original or surprising points of view, and a far more coherent structure from one tale to next, From a Certain Point of View: The Empire Strikes Back does not fall short of its source material, doing it justice by being such a great and memorable sequel. Updates regarding the much anticipated From a Certain Point of View: The Empire Strikes Back have been sparse to non-existent since its announcement but one of the most moments leading up to its release has finally happened: social cards revealing who or what each of the 40 authors is writing about! Rolled out in 5 minutes intervals through Del Rey’s Twitter account, it was a blast to watch the unveiling unfold, especially when the Twitter account VeersWatch got his due. The Clone Wars might have ended this May, in a truly spectacular way, but plenty of fans will and are just interacting with the content for the first time. With the anthology The Clone Wars – Stories of Light and Dark, fans new and old gain a new perspective on some of the show’s most popular and memorable episodes, alongside some great new art in the style of the show. From A Certain Point Of View: The Empire Strikes Back Announced for November 2020 (Updated)
From a Certain Point of View was such a fun and unique way to celebrate A New Hope’s 40th Anniversary, The Empire Strikes Back’s own 40th birthday wouldn’t feel the same without it, and thankfully Del Rey announced From a Certain Point of View: The Empire Strikes Back, out November 10! Revealed June 11, over 30 of the book’s 40 authors took to Twitter (thanks to Sarah for compiling the authors) to confirm their involvement, while the final few, plus some teases on what they are writing, were revealed today, June 15. The Clone Wars Anthology Novel Gets New Title, Cover, and Original Story
Revealed at NYCC 2019, The Clone Wars Anthology middle-grade novel has since gotten an updated cover, new titling, and an awesome artist reveal! Now titled The Clone Wars – Stories of Light and Dark, and still set for August 25 release, 10 of the 11 included stories will feature retellings of classic TCW episodes and arcs, while 1 features a brand-new tale about the Nightsisters!
