The Bad Batch’s Final Season Begins February 21, New Trailer Reveals Surprising Return

The Bad Batch’s third and final season is something we’ve known was coming for quite some time now, but today’s announcement finally reveals when: February 21 is the beginning of the end for the series, kicking off with a three-episode premiere! We now also have a trailer for the third season, including lots of familiar faces, like the absolute shocker of a reveal in its final moments! Head below for more on the big reveal, release schedule, and more!

Here’s the schedule for The Bad Batch season three:

  • February 21: Episode 1 (“Confined”), 2 (“Paths Unknown”), 3 (“Shadows of Tantiss”)
  • February 28: Episode 4 (“A Different Approach”)
  • March 6: Episode 5 (“The Return”)
  • March 13: Episode 6 (“Infiltration”), 7 (“Extraction”)
  • March 20: Episode 8 (“Bad Territory”)
  • March 27: Episode 9 (“The Harbinger”)
  • April 3: Episode 10 (“Identity Crisis”), 11 (“Point of No Return”)
  • April 10: Episode 12 (“Juggernaut”)
  • April 17: Episode 13 (“Into the Breach”)
  • April 24: Episode 14 (“Flash Strike”)
  • May 1: Episode 15 (“The Cavalry Has Arrived”)

As for what we all saw in the trailer: Fennec Shand and Cad Bane will return, so maybe round two between these badasses or them joining the Batch’s cause?; Phee Genoa will be involved still and I’m curious if she’s become radicalized for the fight after learning about Tech’s death; more Rex, because of course, and  Commander Wolffe as well; even Pabu looks to be a returning location. The official announcement for the show’s return mentions the Batch has gone their own ways in the wake of season two’s finale, so it’ll be interesting to see them split for a moment before the inevitable regrouping. It also shows Tantiss, the facility where Crosshair and Omega find themselves prisoners of, will have an official visit from Emperor Palpatine himself, with Omega looking for a way out yet Crosshair beaten down by the torture. Will the Batch manage to save their sister? And bring whatever horrible plans the base has in store for the future of the Empire crashing down? There’s a lot of unknowns with this group and their fates after this, so plenty of surprise could be in store for fans.

But one big surprise has already been revealed: Asajj Ventress LIVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There’s been a…unfortunate habit of on-screen tales overriding publishing material lately, which I’ve been very vocal about in the past (even on this show), yet the official announcement for The Bad Batch S3 promises Asajj’s survival will still honor what transpired in the novel Dark Disciple. I quite enjoyed Dark Disciple as a whole, it’s one helluva thrill-ride, but I’ve been very harsh on Asajj’s death in it because it felt like fridging, especially since at that time we had no idea if Quinlan Vos went on to do anything noteworthy after her death anyways. It’s since been revealed he got wrapped up with the Path, as seen in Obi-Wan Kenobi, so at least he’s been doing something good, but is it worth Asajj’s death, especially since her character had gone on such a great journey over the course of the show? Well, Asajj isn’t dead now, so it lessens the blow of her sudden end in Dark Disciple and I feel like allows her character to continue on her already great trajectory, which is a win-win for me. As for how she’s here, given Dathomir, the Nightsisters, and their dark magicks…I’m sure there will be an interesting explanation for how she lived. Will Quinlan and Asajj find one another again? What has she been up to? What will she get up to if she survives this? Is there a show/book/comic to come with details on what happens next, from Christie Golden again? We’ll just have to watch The Bad Batch season three to find out more, but count me in for supporting Asajj’s return!
