Star Wars Comics February 2024 Solicitations

February 2024’s Star Wars comics look a little lite, as Bounty Hunters is over and Doctor Aphra (Vol. 2) is suspiciously missing (DON’T DO THIS TO ME!), but what is on offer looks like it’ll pack quite the punch! The Mace Windu miniseries will finally kick off, Luke Skywalker finds himself in a Sith-filled situation, and The High Republic comics look to promise the return of faces once thought lost! This month will also host another batch of Black History Month Variants, which I’ve already covered, so without further ado, head below for Star Wars comics’ February 2024 solicitations!

Prepare for High Republic Phase III with New Concept Art, New Characters! (UPDATED)

As Phase III of The High Republic really begins in earnest this month, the official site’s slowly been showing off concept art we all hoped we’d see after spying the little folder on Lucasfilm Publishing creative director Michael Siglain’s laptop at NYCC 2023. Since it’s been a year after Starlight Beacon fell, many of our favorites have gone through a lot and have updated looks to match, while there also introductions to new characters, like the younglings at the core of January’s Escape from Valo. Head below for all the new concept art and details! Continue reading “Prepare for High Republic Phase III with New Concept Art, New Characters! (UPDATED)”

Marvel’s 2024 Black History Month Variant Covers Revealed!

After a few years of Pride Month covers, in 2023 Marvel added Black History Month and Women’s History Month variant covers for Star Wars comics as well, and it looks like 2024 will cement these as tradition! Ken Lashley takes the reins for 2024’s Black History Month Variants for five powerfully gorgeous covers, starring Mace Windu, Bell Zettifar, Captain Panaka, Kawlan Roken, and Adi Gallia. It’s a great line-up and I really do like these covers, but only have Adi Gallia to liven up the gender representation, especially after last year was a little more diverse, is disappointing. Still, very glad these are back and hope they continue for the foreseeable future! Head below for a look at all five covers and what issues they appear on. Star Wars Comics January 2024 Solicitations

January 2024’s Star Wars comics solicitations aren’t interested in your New Year’s resolutions or aspirations, as they have a distinct air of finality to them whether you want them to or not, seeming to promise the era of comics set between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi might be winding down. But we should focus on the here and now, as Qui-Gon Jinn would say, and January’s comics have quite the bounty, from the giant, big finale to the Bounty Hunters series (see, things are ending!), a look at Marchion Ro’s victory lap after Starlight Beacon’s fall, another Visions comic to enjoy, and so much more! Head below for January 2024’s Star Wars comic solicitations now!

NYCC 2023 Lucasfilm Publishing Panel: High Republic Phase III Teases, Jango Fett and Mace Windu Comics, And More Revealed!

New York Comic Con’s Lucasfilm Publishing panels always have something good in store for fans, but this one had much more than expected! Covering a wide swath of what’s next in comics and novels, the panel dove into some new details for the final Phase of The High Republic era, revealing we can soon hold an official lightsaber from said era, while the comics section was packed with surprising new series focusing on Prequel Trilogy characters, all while making a rather shocking announcement about one series’ end. Big thanks to Friends of the Force who brought it all to us live, plus thanks to the Star Wars site team for hi-res photos of many of the new covers and previews released! High Republic Fan Favorites Bell Zettifar, Loden Greatstorm, and More Join Young Jedi Adventures! (Updated)

I’ve managed to catch a few episodes of Young Jedi Adventures since it premiered and thoroughly enjoyed what I’ve seen, especially as it’s delightful to see High Republic era things like Vectors, those bright gold robes, and NUBS all on screen. With the help of the original luminous writer Cavan Scott, Young Jedi Adventures will be the first to bring even more familiar sights of the High Republic era to TV screens, including Jedi Padawan Bell Zettifar and his trusty charhound Ember, Jedi Master Loden Greatstorm, Jedi Master Estala Maru, and Starlight Beacon itself! This is such amazing news for fans, as younger viewers will get to meet some of these characters before they can eventually read the novels/comics, while the High Republic fans will get to see some of the biggest favorites come to life beyond the page! Head below for the remaining screenshots, a new trailer, and a few other thoughts, otherwise catch these appearances in the “months ahead” on the show starting November 8! Comic News: Next Revelations One-Shot Announced, More Ronin for Star Wars: Visions Comics

I focus a lot on Star Wars’ comics on the Manor, especially thanks to it introducing my favorite character Doctor Aphra, and now more than ever it’s hard not to think about their future. We’ve been in the six months period between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi for three years now and are currently in the middle of its fourth crossover event, so a little fatigue has set in, minus for series set outside said era. The announcement of the Star Wars: Visions one-shots was a fresh injection, as is the news we’ll get more backstory for “The Duel,” but where’s a similar freshness for the main stories? Enter 2023’s Revelations one-shot, which looks to tease what’s ahead for 2024’s comics, featuring everyone from Keeve Trennis of the High Republic era, Mace Windu, Princess Leia, and…Grand Admiral Thrawn?! Head below for the intriguing new cover and look at the newest Visions project! Continue reading “Comic News: Next Revelations One-Shot Announced, More Ronin for Star Wars: Visions Comics”
