Comic News: Next Revelations One-Shot Announced, More Ronin for Star Wars: Visions Comics

I focus a lot on Star Wars’ comics on the Manor, especially thanks to it introducing my favorite character Doctor Aphra, and now more than ever it’s hard not to think about their future. We’ve been in the six months period between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi for three years now and are currently in the middle of its fourth crossover event, so a little fatigue has set in, minus for series set outside said era. The announcement of the Star Wars: Visions one-shots was a fresh injection, as is the news we’ll get more backstory for “The Duel,” but where’s a similar freshness for the main stories? Enter 2023’s Revelations one-shot, which looks to tease what’s ahead for 2024’s comics, featuring everyone from Keeve Trennis of the High Republic era, Mace Windu, Princess Leia, and…Grand Admiral Thrawn?! Head below for the intriguing new cover and look at the newest Visions project! Continue reading “Comic News: Next Revelations One-Shot Announced, More Ronin for Star Wars: Visions Comics”

SDCC 2023: Star Wars Outlaws Panel

With the gameplay video living rent free in my head every minute of every day, suffice to say Star Wars Outlaws is one of my most anticipated video games and Star Wars pieces of media. An open-world game where you mix it up with the criminal underworld as fresh but determined Kay Vess, alongside her cute little friend Nix? If the final game is even an ounce like its opening video, we’re in for a treat. At SDCC 2023, Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment had a panel about the upcoming release, sharing details like the new criminal syndicate made for the game or there may be cooking, while also showing off the video above, where we see atmospheric video of the new planet Toshara and Kay voice actress Humberly Gonzalez filming mo-cap. Head below for all extra nuggets gleaned from the panel! Continue reading “SDCC 2023: Star Wars Outlaws Panel”

Star Wars Comics October 2023 Solicitations

At this age in my life, I don’t really expect a ton of gifts in my birthday month, instead looking forward to spending time with friends and family. While I don’t expect gifts, I always hope Star Wars comics will have some for me and October 2023 certainly does, as well as what are totally not gifts and are leaving me shaking in my Manor best robes. On the gift side, there’s some big droid showdowns in Artoo’s quest to save Threepio, The High Republic returns with what looks to be a impactful issue, Doctor Aphra and Magna Tolvan get back together….only for Magna to become a Scourge-infect gremlin?! And there’s going to be more Lando and Lobot drama that I’m sure my heart can handle anymore? The solicitations for October 2023 Star Wars comics certainly are going to keep my birthday month interesting! Continue reading “Star Wars Comics October 2023 Solicitations”

Final Ahsoka Trailer, Two-Episode Premiere August 23

This piece was written during the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Without the labor of the writers and actors currently on strike, this show wouldn’t exist. Consider supporting the strikes here.

When Ahsoka hits Disney+ on August 23, it’ll come with a two-episode premiere, all the better to maybe explain why Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) calls Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) “Master” and the two have such an icy relationship!!? The latest trailer is packed with new footage, including: a HD look at the face of Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen); beautiful shots of Lothal in live-action; Sabine’s Loth-cat decaled helmet; a canon E-Wing (!!!); the New Republic Fleet; what looks close to a Star Map from Knights of the Old Republic (seen in a place kind of like Malachor); lots more of Hera Syndulla (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) whose son Jacen’s live-action look was revealed by a LEGO set leak; Ezra Bridger’s (Eman Esfandi) little hologram speaks!; more of former Jedi Baylon Skoll (Ray Stevenson, Rest in Peace) and Shin Hati (Ivanna Sakhno), twisting Ahsoka’s famous “I am no Jedi” line; lots of Anakin Skywalker being mentioned, potentially hinting at rumors being true his Ghost or a flashback might be in the show; and that aforementioned and very intriguing icy history between Sabine and Ahsoka. I have doubts Sabine is Force-sensitive, wouldn’t be terribly mad about it if she is though, but interested to learn about the training between the two regardless, especially as Shin Hati tells Sabine she has no power. Head below for a whole bunch of screenshots from the trailer, as well as the little sizzle reel about Ahsoka and Dawson released a day before, along with a disclaimer about the actress. High Republic Show: Burryaga Lives, The Eye of Darkness Cover Revealed

After much hype and circumstance, the latest The High Republic Show finally arrives with the promise of revealing Burryaga’s fate. It was a foregone conclusion they wouldn’t center a big hype train on revealing his fate only for him to be dead, but it was still very reassuring when host Krystina Arielle brought the good word: Burry Lives!! We’ll find out how in Tales of Light and Life (out September 5, available at SDCC early, and ebook releasing July 25), likely via Charles Soule’s story called “All Jedi Walk Their Own Path,” which we already knew would center on Bell Zettifar’s tireless search for his friend. Beyond the good news, we got a reveal of the cover for The Eye of Darkness, George Mann’s opening novel to Phase III, as well as a promise of at least one reveal at the SDCC Lucasfilm Publishing Panel on July 21! This was a short one, a little disappointingly so, but it’s awesome to have Arielle and the Show back. Head below for The Eye of Darkness’ cover!
