Actions Have Consequences: Lucasfilm No Longer Working With Gina Carano Due to Her Anti-Semitic, Transphobic Views

Gina Carano Let Go by Lucasfilm News

Yesterday shouldn’t have been the final straw for Gina Carano, instead what concerned Lucasfilm back in November, enough to make them question her leading her own show (likely Rangers of the New Republic), should’ve been when they cut her loose. Unfortunately, there was no word, one way or another, as she spread anti-science ideas, false election fraud claims, support of the violent insurrection on January 6, anti-semitic memes, and transphobic behavior in tweets/Instagram posts long after November, leaving trans/non-binary fans (and any fan of Star Wars who understands her actions are antithetical to what the franchise stands for) to feel forgotten by Lucasfilm as she featured more prominently in The Mandalorian’s second season. The Mandalorian Season Two Finale Review: “Chapter 16 – The Rescue”

The Mandalorian Season Two Finale Chapter 16 The Rescue

Spoiler Review –

The Mandalorian Season Two Finale, “Chapter 16 – The Rescue,” finds Din Djarin, Boba Fett, Fennec Shand, and some familiar faces finally taking the fight to Moff Gideon to rescue Grogu. While it often goes the way you think, it’s still a tense, excellent finale with a few things to nitpick. Continue reading “The Mandalorian Season Two Finale Review: “Chapter 16 – The Rescue””

The Future of Star Wars Disney Investors Day 2020 Image

Star Wars is dead…long live Star Wars! I am absolutely thrilled at all this content coming, though a little anxious about it being too much, but let’s not worry about that and unpack all the new series and movie announced today at the Disney Investors Call. LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special Trailer Brings the Laughs

After the past 5 to 6 years of taking itself very seriously, it’s time for Star Wars to have some fun again, let loose, and throw Rey Skywalker across time and space to mess with timeline for some irreverent holiday fun. Thank LEGO it’s happening, this month, when The LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special arrives on Disney+ on November 17! If the first trailer for the new special is anything to go by, irreverent holiday fun might be a big understatement, as this looks like a total freaking joy. Baby Yoda appearance? Check. Vader covering up a preemptive reveal to Luke? Check. Ben Swolo humor? Check. More Podracing? Double Check. The evitable “Shoot First” joke? Check and Check. What other laughs and jokes and surprise meetups await? Find out when the special airs Nov. 17! In the meantime, check out the poster below the cut and come back for our review after it airs! Wherever I Go, He Goes: The Mandalorian Season 2 Trailer Is Here!

As the Armorer’s words echo over the trailer, reminding us about Din Djarin’s new purpose in life with protecting his young charge, The Child aka Baby Yoda aka The Cutest Thing in the GFFA, a series of damn exciting images and scenarios flash across the screen: A hooded stranger watching Mando and the Baby Yoda, from the shadows (as Jedi are talked about in the voice over); the floating Razor Crest, limping towards an unknown planet; Gamorrean fighting ring fun; snowy cuteness with Baby Yoda; the already amazing music looks to be taken to whole other level; and how the little one knows too well what the glowing Whistling Birds mean, hiding within his pram (might be my favorite part). The galaxy looks to be getting bigger for The Mandalorian’s second season, out October 30, and we couldn’t be more excited! Head below for some more thoughts, screenshots, and who might be playing that mysterious stranger. Continue reading “Wherever I Go, He Goes: The Mandalorian Season 2 Trailer Is Here!”

The Mandalorian Season 2 Premieres October 30!

The Mandalorian Season 2 Title Image October 30 AnnouncementAll aboard the Baby Yoda sorry, the Child hype train! The second season of The Mandalorian is just under two months away, set to begin new episodes on October 30. With the release date so late into October, I wouldn’t be surprised if a trailer doesn’t happen until the end of September/early October, but I sure hope I’m wrong. Also, loving the new title graphic, with Papa Din Djarin and Baby Yoda looking at one another; this is the way…to more preciousness! Continue reading “The Mandalorian Season 2 Premieres October 30!”

Get Your Jedi Carols Ready: Lego Star Wars Holiday Special Hits Disney+ Nov 17!

Lego Star Wars Holiday Special Title ImageI never thought I’d have to type, let alone be excited and hyped to do so, the words, “Star Wars Holiday Special,” but when Lego is attached and there’s actually a fun premise, full of winks and nods to the original mess of a special and all over the Saga, suddenly all is right with the galaxy. On November 17, 42 years to the day of the original special’s release, The Lego Star Wars Holiday Special will release on Disney+, taking us past The Rise of Skywalker, and all over the Saga, as Rey, Finn, Poe, and Rose try to celebrate Life Day with Chewie and his family, but Rey’s dive into the mysteries of the Force pulls her and BB-8 through different eras and moments in the Saga as she rushes to get back to her friends. The Bad Batch Animated Series Headed to Disney+ in 2021

The Bad Batch Animated Series Logo 2

The Clone Wars might be over, but many of its characters lived past the show’s major conflict, as we’ve seen from Star Wars Rebels and more, so it should be no surprise an elite squad of clone troopers like the Bad Batch, aka Clone Force 99, would be among the survivors. A little more surprising is the clones will star in their own animated show, heading to Disney+ in 2021, aptly named The Bad Batch. Beyond the detail the show will take place post-TCW as the clones take on mercenary jobs as they struggle to find purpose, and the announcement of the creative forces behind it, there aren’t a lot of details at the moment. Head below for the creative team and some of my thoughts on the show, which at the moment doesn’t quite capture my interest compared to the many other options and avenues available. New Star Wars Film from Taika Waititi and Krysty Wilson-Cairns, New TV Series from Leslye Headland

Via Lucasfilm

There have been a lot of great presents for Star Wars fans on 2020’s May the 4th, and one of the most intriguing gift is the double announcement of a new film and TV series! For the new Star Wars film, it’ll be directed and co-written by Taika Waititi (JoJo Rabbit, Thor: Ragnarok, The Mandalorian) and Krysty Wilson-Cairns (1917), with no details on its content nor release date. Curiously, in the announcement the film was discussed as a “feature film for theatrical release” (emphasis mine), making one wonder if that’s just due to everything going on with theaters being currently closed or they are considering making films for Disney+; Waititi’s involvement confirms rumors from earlier this year. Leslye Headland (Russian Doll) was revealed to be showrunning, writing, and executive producing an unnamed TV series for Disney+. This also confirms recent rumors she was making a show, though time will tell if it’s female-centric as originally reported.
