Obi-Wan Kenobi Series Cast Announced, Production Begins April

Obi-Wan Kenobi Cast Announced

Knowing Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen will be back for the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi limited series, directed by Deborah Chow, is enough to make myself and many other fans excited it, but today the official site announced the remaining cast and holy Force is it stacked and wonderfully diverse: Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell, and Benny Safdie. With the series, set 10 years after Revenge of the Sith, beginning production in April, and this seemingly being a shift to Lucasfilm trying out a little more marketing than normal for these shows, maybe we’ll get some BTS fun for May the Fourth? Regardless, let’s dive into the casting announcements below! Continue reading “Obi-Wan Kenobi Series Cast Announced, Production Begins April”

Original Novel Star Wars Visions: Ronin Announced, Out October

Star Wars Visions Ronin Announced

When Lucasfilm revealed the future of Star Wars, with tons of content flowing through Disney+, one of the more intriguing shows was Star Wars Visions, an anthology collection which will, “…bring 10 fantastic visions from several of the leading Japanese anime studios.” It’s not even out yet and it has inspired an original novel, Star Wars Visions: Ronin, by Emma Mieko Candon, set to release October 12, with the book’s announcement confirming the show will be out 2021. I’m eager to learn more about this book, especially if Candon pitched them a book with “a transcendent sense of hope,” as this could be an intriguing new concept for a novel. No extra details released for Ronin or Visions, but check back at the Manor as we’ll have them when they do! Continue reading “Original Novel Star Wars Visions: Ronin Announced, Out October”

Ewok TV Movies, Tartakovsky Clone Wars Cartoon, and more Legends Content Join Disney+ April 2

Legends Ewoks Movies Holiday Special Tartakovsky Clone Wars on Disney Plus

Star Wars Day comes early this year! Long before Disney bought Lucasfilm, or George Lucas himself started making animated projects, Star Wars branched out to TV in a variety of ways and now some of that Legends content comes to Disney+ (at least in the US) starting April 2! The list is a fun and surprising chunk of content: the two Ewok TV movies, Caravan of Courage and Ewoks: The Battle for Endor; the two seasons of the animated Ewoks show; the two Volumes of Genndy Tartakovsky’s Clone Wars from 2003-2005; and most surprisingly of all, “The Story of the Faithful Wookiee,” better known as the animated segment of the original Holiday Special (!) introducing Boba Fett. Head below for some thoughts on the releases and yes…there might be some reviews on Mynock Manor come April! The Bad Batch Premieres May the 4th on Disney+

The Bad Batch Premieres May 4

Star Wars Animation is back on the menu, folks! Disney+ will host the premiere of The Bad Batch on Star Wars Day aka May the Fourth, with a second episode following on May 7 and releasing on subsequent Fridays. There’s no new trailer, images, or details released with this announcement (though the Republic Commando remaster a month before is a nice added bonus), but the trailer from December turned my less than favorable thoughts around about the show, especially upon seeing The Mandalorian’s Fennec Shand appearing! Check out the trailer and the reveal of The Black Series toy for Wrecker (the Batch’s muscle) below, but remember to return to the Manor in May for our reviews! Actions Have Consequences: Lucasfilm No Longer Working With Gina Carano Due to Her Anti-Semitic, Transphobic Views

Gina Carano Let Go by Lucasfilm News

Yesterday shouldn’t have been the final straw for Gina Carano, instead what concerned Lucasfilm back in November, enough to make them question her leading her own show (likely Rangers of the New Republic), should’ve been when they cut her loose. Unfortunately, there was no word, one way or another, as she spread anti-science ideas, false election fraud claims, support of the violent insurrection on January 6, anti-semitic memes, and transphobic behavior in tweets/Instagram posts long after November, leaving trans/non-binary fans (and any fan of Star Wars who understands her actions are antithetical to what the franchise stands for) to feel forgotten by Lucasfilm as she featured more prominently in The Mandalorian’s second season. The Mandalorian Season Two Finale Review: “Chapter 16 – The Rescue”

The Mandalorian Season Two Finale Chapter 16 The Rescue

Spoiler Review –

The Mandalorian Season Two Finale, “Chapter 16 – The Rescue,” finds Din Djarin, Boba Fett, Fennec Shand, and some familiar faces finally taking the fight to Moff Gideon to rescue Grogu. While it often goes the way you think, it’s still a tense, excellent finale with a few things to nitpick. Continue reading “The Mandalorian Season Two Finale Review: “Chapter 16 – The Rescue””

The Future of Star Wars Disney Investors Day 2020 Image

Star Wars is dead…long live Star Wars! LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special Trailer Brings the Laughs

After the past 5 to 6 years of taking itself very seriously, it’s time for Star Wars to have some fun again, let loose, and throw Rey Skywalker across time and space to mess with timeline for some irreverent holiday fun. Thank LEGO it’s happening, this month, when The LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special arrives on Disney+ on November 17! If the first trailer for the new special is anything to go by, irreverent holiday fun might be a big understatement, as this looks like a total freaking joy. Baby Yoda appearance? Check. Vader covering up a preemptive reveal to Luke? Check. Ben Swolo humor? Check. More Podracing? Double Check. The evitable “Shoot First” joke? Check and Check. Wherever I Go, He Goes: The Mandalorian Season 2 Trailer Is Here!

As the Armorer’s words echo over the trailer, reminding us about Din Djarin’s new purpose in life with protecting his young charge, The Child aka Baby Yoda aka The Cutest Thing in the GFFA, a series of damn exciting images and scenarios flash across the screen: A hooded stranger watching Mando and the Baby Yoda, from the shadows (as Jedi are talked about in the voice over); the floating Razor Crest, limping towards an unknown planet; Gamorrean fighting ring fun; snowy cuteness with Baby Yoda; the already amazing music looks to be taken to whole other level; and how the little one knows too well what the glowing Whistling Birds mean, hiding within his pram (might be my favorite part). The galaxy looks to be getting bigger for The Mandalorian’s second season, out October 30, and we couldn’t be more excited! Head below for some more thoughts, screenshots, and who might be playing that mysterious stranger. Continue reading “Wherever I Go, He Goes: The Mandalorian Season 2 Trailer Is Here!”
