New Details on Star Wars Outlaws Story Expansions, Updated Buyer’s Guide {UPDATED}

We are less than a month away from the release of Star Wars Outlaws, one of my most anticipated Star Wars releases in a while, and now Ubisoft and Massive have revealed more details about the game’s additional story content expansions! Coming out Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 respectively, Wild Card and A Pirate’s Fortune will bring new adventures to Kay Vess’ story, which includes hanging out with the notorious pirate Hondo Ohnaka! Head below for the details and reiteration of my buyer’s guide from a previous article! Update 8/19: They’ve released a trailer about the season pass, which I’ve included above!

outlaws season pass roadmap

Wild Card and A Pirate’s Fortune are the titles for the two DLC (downloadable content) expansions for Outlaws, which are available as part of the game’s season pass. Currently, the only way to get the season pass is pre-ordering the Gold or Ultimate editions, but it’s highly likely the season pass and/or the story expansions individually themselves will be on sale afterwards, we just don’t have pricing or confirmation on that yet. What we do know is what content comes in these two story expansions, or at least a general idea of what players can expect. With Wild Card, out Fall 2024, “Kay is hired to infiltrate a high-stakes Sabacc tournament, but as she crosses paths with the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian, she soon learns that another game is being played.” We’ve seen Lando in previous trailers for the game, as well as Sabacc being played itself, so either this is an expanded role for Lando from what we’ve seen or the trailers included him from this story. Either way, hopefully the Sabacc mechanics are enjoyable enough since they are centering some additional story on it! Alongside the story, there are cosmetics for Kay, Nix, your speeder, and the Trailblazer, Kay’s ship, which are released for season pass holders as well when Wild Card comes out. Speaking of the Trailblazer, for A Pirate’s Fortune, out Spring 2025, “The Trailblazer’s reputation precedes Kay as she runs into veteran pirate Hondo Ohnaka, who is looking to settle old scores with a ruthless gang of pirates.” Hondo Ohnaka is coming to Outlaws?!? I’d still have preferred Doctor Aphra to show up, somehow (maybe she still will), but he’s such a big personality and can bring a whole bunch of chaos to the story, so I totally get choosing him for the game. I’ll be interested to see if Outlaws gets a sequel—it seems destined to—and if anything from these story packs are hints at what could be expanded on in another entry.

So, what’s the situation with buying Outlaws and all its editions again? The official site of Outlaws breaks this down pretty well, but it’s worth reiterating here as we get closer and they announce these DLC details. Pre-ordering the game has a few options: there’s the base game, which is $69.99 in the US, and a pre-order only nets you some cosmetics; the Gold Edition, my personal choice, is $109.99 and includes the aforementioned cosmetics, but also comes with 3 Days of Early Access to the game (this all depends on how/where you preorder, as I’m hoping Target will deliver my copy 3 days early, but I also don’t care), and full access to the Season Pass (which I’ll break down in a moment); and the Ultimate Edition at $129.99 includes all the above, adds even more cosmetic packs, and a digital artbook for the game. The Season Pass includes the two story packs, an exclusive “Jabba’s Gambit” mission centered about ND-5’s past with the gangster (but everyone will have a chance to interact with Jabba), and additional cosmetics (some on launch, more with Wild Card’s release). I’m most interested in finding out how much the story packs will cost if you want to buy them separately/afterwards, as then it’ll be easier to know if a more expensive edition might’ve saved money in the long run, but I’m hedging my bets it will given the track record of how these editions/DLC prices have worked on other games in the past. There’s of course the option of waiting to get it, hoping there’s a sale sooner than later, which there always is, and you could conceivably save on any of the editions then.

As we learn more about the expansions or anything else new about the game in the coming weeks, check back to the Manor! I’ll eventually have a review on the site, but it’ll be once I’ve finished the game and defeated most, if not all, any side missions or quest stuff, so I probably won’t have one until later September/early October. Hope everyone enjoys!
