Hidden No More: First Details on Qi’ra’s Comic Trilogy Finale, Hidden Empire!

We’ve known the finale to Qi’ra’s comics trilogy, Hidden Empire, was coming for some time, but its first covers and a few small details, along with a November release, were finally revealed on the official site ahead of the coming comic solicitations for the month.

If you’ve been following Qi’ra’s return in the comics, and you only really need to read the main War of the Bounty Hunters miniseries and its follow-up Crimson Reign if you want to catch up, then you’re ready for her final push in her fight against the Sith that rule the galaxy. As writer Charles Soule puts it, the mastermind behind her return here and the current Star Wars mainline run, “She just wants things to be more fair. More even. She wants everyone, no matter where they start in life, to have a chance to improve things for themselves and the people they care about.” While he admits we know how things will have to go since the events of Return of the Jedi hang over this series, and the opening issue of Crimson Reign promised us a tragedy, he teases Hidden Empire will not only connect to The Empire Strikes Back and RotJ, but also beyond. That final tease, and how he’s very adamant to highlight how this is just the end of Qi’ra’s story for now, gives me some hope we might get to see Qi’ra leap back onto the screen in the future with Emilia Clarke returning to the role, maybe even in books coming out, or even more comics. In meantime, having Steven Cummings back from CR is a delight because I’ve really come to enjoy his Qi’ra the most and overall really like his art.

Much like the previous stories with Qi’ra, expect the many characters across other comics to come into play as well, and I’m sure their own comics will reflect some of the events as well, but Hidden Empire isn’t being billed as a crossover like WotBH was. We might get a few more tidbits when the solicits for November drop next week, but for now just enjoy these awesome covers, the first by Paulo Siqueira and Rachelle Rosenberg and the second, an epic battle one by Declan Shalvey (it’s a first in a series, so I’m looking forward to the other duels he represents!):
