High Republic News: Trials of the Jedi Cover Revealed!

While there are much bigger worries in the world, I still found myself a little anxious over the coming cover reveal from Charles Soule’s High Republic grand finale novel, Trials of the Jedi. Not concerning its content, but rather the bittersweet fact it’s the last (as we know, for now…) novel cover reveal for the era. It’s been an incredible journey these four years and seeing this cover, well…it’s really settling in the end isn’t just near, it’s practically here. January 29 has a big High Republic comic release, with endings to a few miniseries, the first Annual issue in a while, and the beginning of the big Battle of Eriadu storyline, so the ending has never felt more unavoidable until now, something I’m not sure how to process just yet. But enough about my melancholy, how about let’s see this gorgeous full cover?! Head below for the whole thing by Grant Griffin, as well as some additional minor details!

Look at this thing!! The Jedi, in the armored look we first saw at NYCC ’24, lightsabers drawn and ready to face whatever threat is coming their way. The threat? The Nameless, of course! In the reveal article, there’s a brief summary of what to expect, and it seems the unavoidable is here: the Jedi are heading to Planet X to bring this thing to a close once and for all. UPDATE: Here’s the official blurb:

In this epic conclusion to Star Wars: The High Republic, the Jedi face a final confrontation against the Nihil and Marchion Ro.

The Force is everything. A single life connected to all life. All things connected to all other things. This is what the Jedi believe, and this is why they fight. For life…and the light.

For too long, the light has been threatened by Marchion Ro, a sinister despot who will stop at nothing in his quest for power. The conflict with Ro and his marauding Nihil forces has left scars across the galaxy and held the Republic hostage. Countless lives have been lost, beacons of hope have fallen, and the collective courage and resolve of the Republic have been tested like never before. Through it all the Jedi Order has endured, an unwavering candle against the encroaching darkness.

But the Jedi have yet to solve the mystery of the Nameless creatures who feed on the Force. Ro has loosed them upon the galaxy, striking fear into the heart of even the most stalwart Jedi. And yet with every life saved and world freed from Nihil control, the all-consuming blight, which devours everything wherever it appears, threatens to wipe it all away.

Everything now depends on nine brave Jedi, led by Avar Kriss and Elzar Mann, who embark on a treacherous journey to the Nameless homeworld. Their quest: to finally solve the mystery of the Nameless and their connection to the Force, and to stop the blight before its damage becomes irreversible.

But a final confrontation with Marchion Ro awaits. Ro, who is willing to sacrifice everything he’s achieved to secure a final victory against the Jedi and carve his name into the very stars for all time.

Nothing less than the fate of everything, perhaps even the Force itself, is at stake.

Ty Yorrick, one of my favorites (especially after the excellent Saber for Hire miniseries), made the cover, as well as Bell Zettifar, Burryaga, Elzar Mann, and Avar Kriss, the whole thing functioning as a callback to Soule’s Light of the Jedi cover. In Soule’s newsletter (you really need to sign up!), he revealed the book is looking to be roughly 500+ pages (!!!! As it should!) and this cover is part of a wrap-around, so there’s more to this than meets the eye! Nameless? Our first look at other creatures from Planet X, like the Under-Dwellers and the protector?!? It won’t be long before we find out!

As always, journey back to the Manor for more details as we get them, as well as our review when this releases June 17, 2025! We’ll keep the crying to a minimum, I hope!
