While we are primarily a Star Wars blog, Lucasfilm does more than Star Wars (I’m going to start watching the Willow show soon), the mynocks would never let me not mention Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny had its first trailer today (which you can watch below the cut). Back to Star Wars, the upcoming novel Jedi: Battle Scars by Sam Maggs had its full cover revealed and a blurb with intriguing new details, along with a confirmed release date of March 7. The fun doesn’t end there, as on March 1, and overlapping with The Bad Batch’s second season, The Mandalorian’s third season premieres. Head below for the new Battle Scars details and its full cover!
How about that cover! It’s busy, sure, but it tells us the Mantis crew will have, at least during the events of this book, the Fifth Brother Inquisitor hounding them, as well as some nice new outfits. Cal, Cere, Merrin, and Greez have dealt with Inquisitors and even Darth Vader before, but the Fifth Bro ain’t no slouch, so despite having bigger fish to fry during Jedi: Battle Scars, he’ll certainly make this intriguing mission from a deserting stormtrooper much more difficult. And who doesn’t enjoy a little difficulty, especially if he won’t then have to be a boss in the video game sequel, Jedi: Survivor? Also on the docket for Battle Scars? Spiciness, according to the author, as well as the bogling you can befriend from the first game. Here’s the blurb for Battle Scars, out March 7:
Cal Kestis has built a new life for himself with the crew of the Stinger Mantis. Together, Cal’s crew has brought down bounty hunters, defeated Inquisitors, and even evaded Darth Vader himself. More importantly, Merrin, Cere, Greez, and faithful droid BD-1 are the closest thing Cal has had to a family since the fall of the Jedi Order. Even as the galaxy’s future grows more uncertain by the day, with each blow struck against the Empire, the Mantis crew grows more daring.
On what should be a routine mission, they meet a stormtrooper determined to chart her own course with the help of Cal and the crew. In exchange for help starting a new life, the Imperial deserter brings word of a powerful, potentially invaluable tool for their fight against the Empire. And even better, she can help them get to it. The only catch — pursuing it will bring them into the path of one of the Empire’s most dangerous servants, the Inquisitor known as the Fifth Brother.
Can the Imperial deserter truly be trusted? And while Cal and his friends have survived run-ins with the Inquisitors before, how many times can they evade the Empire before their luck runs out?
Revealed on Star Wars social accounts, The Mandalorian season three is set to premiere on March 1. It’ll overlap with The Bad Batch’s second season, which premieres January 4, so it’ll be about halfway through. And in case you’re wondering why Grogu is back with Din Djarin after leaving with Luke Skywalker in the season two finale, then look no further than…. The Book of Boba Fett? Yup, The Mandalorian took over the show for two episodes, episodes “Chapter 5 – Return of the Mandalorian” and “Chapter 6 – From the Desert Comes a Stranger,” so in case you missed it you’ll have some time to catch up now, otherwise I’m assuming they’ll have a little more extensive recap that’ll basically sum up the two episodes.
How about some more Nazi punching!! Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, a lovely, campy name, looks like a total blast from its first trailer. Phoebe Waller-Bridge, playing Helena aka Indy’s goddaughter, seems absolutely fit for this world. And the de-aging tech Disney has been working on for awhile is scary, in many ways, good. Out June 30, set the Dial for Destiny (sorry, not sorry).
