Legendary Adventures: The Corellian Trilogy

Legendary Adventures #87 Corellian Trilogy Centerpoint Station

An ancient device threatens to explode already tense relationships in the Corellian sector – and now Han’s family history comes to haunt him! Join the Legendary Adventures as we read the Corellian Trilogy!

Ancient hyperspace technology and long-forgotten family ties put the galaxy in danger again, as both are revealed at pivotal and volatile points in galactic history! Chief-of-State Leia Organa Solo has had it rough lately. Being the daughter of Darth Vader put her political career into crisis mode when a violent alien race provoked the New Republic. Even when that situation was resolved, Leia’s political career never fully recovered. Now, a new political threat swelling in the Corellian sector might be the final nail in the coffin of her political life. The Corellian system has grown more and more isolated after the establishment of the Empire and the native populations of the planets in the sector have started a sort of cold war between themselves. Leia and the Solo family travel to Corellia to try and diffuse the tension, but find themselves in really thick trouble very quickly.

The trouble seems two-fold. First, young Anakin Solo starts to sense the presence of an immense and powerful ancient machine somewhere on Corellia. It is guarded closely, which never spells good news for our heroes. Second, Mara Jade delivers a message to Leia from something called the Human League. The Human League has a message for the galaxy: listen to their demands, which work toward the advancement of the humans in the galaxy, or they would destroy stars. In fact, a few stars have already been blown up! They also incite riots across the Corellian sector, hoping to enflame the tensions that have already been growing there. Han calls Luke in to Corellia to help, as Luke and Lando have (essentially) been travelling the galaxy to find Lando a wife. For business purposes, of course. Not love, cause you can never keep a good scoundrel down.

The leader of the Human League is revealed to be the cousin of Han Solo, Thrackan Sal-Solo. The Human League shares a similar ideology to the pro-human Galactic Empire, but the two are not associated. But it does start to create tension between humans and non-humans, a lasting effect that will continue to plague the galaxy even into the Yuuzhan Vong war. As Leia’s parentage starts to harm her, Luke fails to learn about his mother, Han and the Solo kids learn a bit more about their family as well. Thrackan captures Han and forces him to fight a revolutionary named Dracmus while Leia and Mara are similarly captured. Leia uses her growing Jedi skills to free both herself and Mara, while Dracmus and Han also escape. The four travel to Selonia (separately) hoping to stop Thrackan and figure out what is happening behind the scenes with the explosions in the stars.

The mystery of the stars exploding, which they call Starbuster, might be tied to whatever it was that Anakin sensed from that ancient machine. On Drall, Anakin, Jacen, and Jaina are watched by a tutor named Ebrahim. Ebrahim and his grandmother take the Solo kids to an excavation site, where they find more ancient machines. Anakin activates another machine, which turns out to be a repusler. The machine is extremely similar to the one found on Corellia, suggesting that they might be linked. Ebrahim notes that, according to legend, the system was artificially constructed, and these machines might explain how. In the past, the Gree were a species that created extremely popular and efficient ways to travel across the galaxy. These machines could, in theory, be linked to that Gree technology, or at least other ancient technology that bolstered hyperspace travel and exploration.

As Han, Dracmus, Leia, and Mara Jade head to Selonia, the New Republic also plans an attack on the system. Corellia has been blocked by hyperspace interdictors, which create gravity wells that prevent hyperspace travel to the planet. The New Republic plans to attack a station there called Centerpoint Station. This station seems to be the cause of the interdictory field which prevents travel to the system. Luke Skywalker leads an attack on the station, his forces including ships from Bakura. The Bakuran truce finally supplies the New Republic with more help in the form of ships, but it also means the New Republic’s relationship with the Empire is becoming cozier and cozier. At Selonia, Han and Dracmus are united with Mara and Leia and they learn that a huge fleet is planning to attack Corellia.

The Bakuran fleet arrives at Centerpoint and finally puts together a few mysteries, all at the same time. The Centerpoint Station is the cause of the interdictor fields preventing travel to Corellia, but it has been abandoned. It is also the station behind the destruction of all of the exploding stars, and it is about to cause another to explode. This star would destroy the lives of millions of people who live around it, so it becomes even more imperative to stop the machine as soon as possible. They hypothesize that the repulsor fields, like the one Anakin found, would be able to offset the Station and destroy it. Little do they know that Anakin was, at the same time, activating one, and being captured by Thrackan himself.

Thrackan, in taking the Solo kids, accidentally irritates his masters, the true workers behind the scenes: the Sacorrian Triad. This Triad is actually made up of representatives of the native species of Corellia, and they planned on using the Centerpoint Station, repulsors, and cold war to their own ends and gain power in the galaxy by controlling the Corellian sector. Thrackan, becoming too big for his own britches, overstepped his bounds and was needed to be put down. The Triad drop the interdictory field around Corellia, which proves to be a fatal mistake. The New Republic and Bakuran fleet punch through and destroy the Triad and savile the Solo kids. The Solo kids, now having grown into their own as Jedi, are to begin full-scale Jedi training soon.

The timing seems perfect here, because another massive specter from the past is rising…and he has a dark vision of the future.
