Luke Skywalker’s journey to help his lover, Callista Ming, find her connection with the Force ends with kidnapping and an exploration of the Force and the Jedi Order. Join today’s Legendary Adventure as we finish the Callista trilogy with Planet of Twilight!
As the Imperial Remnant continues to wane in power, the New Republic finds itself flush with allies. After the pilots of Rogue Squadron helped gained the trust of Adumar, another planet reaches out to the New Republic. Nam Chorios is about to be embroiled in a civil war, one between the larger population of the planet and the anti-technology cult that lives there. Unfortunately, the cult, the Theran Listeners, control the anti-aircraft lasers on the planet and use them to prevent Nam Chorios from joining the larger interstellar trading system. This time, they do reach out to the politicians of the New Republic, but Leia finds herself unable to intervene.
Unfortunately, Leia’s inability to help lands her in trouble. She meets with a group from the planet, led by Seri Ashgad, his aide Dzym, and some bodyguards, who kidnap her. (Better than the constant kidnapping of the twins that will take over Legends soon!) They also release something called the Death Seed plague upon the ship which kills every other occupant. The Death Seed plague was another pandemic that was seemingly destroyed, like the Blue Shadow Virus in the Clone Wars. Unfortunately, it seems as if Ashgad has access to the plague and threatens to unleash it again. Biological warfare was a big component of the Clone War, so this would have catastrophic effects on the galaxy at large.
There are more secrets about the planet to be discovered, though. Like Tython, Dathomir, Korriban, and Dagobah, Nam Chorios is rich in the Force. This might be what prompted former Jedi Callista Ming to visit, as she and Luke are on a mission to rediscover her connection with the Force. Luke travels to the planet to find Callista, but he is shot down. Whilst on the planet, he discovers crystals on the planet called Spook-crystals. These spook crystals are sentient and are active transmitters of the Force, perhaps not unlike midi-chlorians. These spook-crystals have amplified the Force-sensitivity of the native Nam Chorians, making them exceptional healers. They have also kept a Jedi from the Old Republic alive, named Taselda. Unfortunately, the ravages of time have addled her mind, and she borders on the edge of the Dark Side of the Force, like his former “Master” Joruus C’baoth.
As Luke untangles the mystery of Taselda and the spook-crystals, Leia awakens to find her own mystery. She finds that Ashgad is working in a huge plot to take over a large portion of his section of the galaxy, aided by a Force-sensitive Hutt named Beldorion the Splendid, along with an Imperial Moff. All think that they are working toward their own ends, but the truth is that Dzym has gone mad with the Black Death seeds. He seeks to take over the galaxy with his plague, starting with Nam Chorios. This has turned the mind of two warriors, Beldorian and Taselda against Luke and Leia. Leia faces Beldorion in a duel while Luke faces the corrupted Ashgad, and both of the twins successfully defeat their enemies. The rest of the Nam Chorios alliance, especially with the Imperials, is shut down by Han Solo, Lando Calrissian, and Admiral Daala.
In the end, Luke is reunited with Callista, who was held by Ashgad. The two realize that their time together has come to an end, going their separate ways. Luke will soon realize that greater mysteries of the Force await him, as a crystal star calls to him…
