I could open this up with a variation on the joke about ‘April showers’ but I feel like I’ve done it before and done it dirty already, so no need to put you, or me, through that again. But I can say April 2025’s Star Wars comics aren’t full of bad jokes, rather intriguing moments like the canonization of a cancelled action figure, the big finale to the Battle of Eriadu, a new adventure for Poe Dameron and BB-8, and Kylo Ren being Gradulla the Hutt’s prisoner, among other things! So you know, quite the showering of weird comic moments (had to make a joke there somewhere)! Check out April 2025’s Star Wars comics solicitations below.

YODA AND VETNA MOONCREST FACE THE TYRANNY OF ATHA PRIME!
- The JEDI face a new threat on a strange, fantastic and mysterious world…
- But the planet’s surface ruler has a dark secret he wants hidden from the REPUBLIC!
- The first story featuring a never-released Kenner action figure…ATHA PRIME!
Vetna Mooncrest has a fantastic design and I really look forward to learning more about her! But for now, the solicitations are focused on the big canonization of Atha Prime, whose appearance in this series is sort of ironic when you think about it. Atha Prime was meant to be the main villain of a new series of action figures dreamt up by Kenner in the early 80’s after Return of the Jedi, meant to carry on the story of the films, but while it was obviously nixed, we’ve known about the attempt, and seen concept art, ever since. So Atha Prime finally made real, but being part of a prequel to the Prequel Trilogy rather than a sequel to the Original Trilogy feels ironic, in a fun way. Also, this week Marc Guggenheim, Alex Segura, and Charles Soule spoke with Star Wars Explained about their upcoming comics and Guggenheim revealed Kelleran Beq, the Jedi who saved Grogu and is played by Ahmed Best, will be in this series at one point! That’s more exciting to me than old Kenner action figure ideas.

KYLO REN — PRISONER ON TATOOINE!
- KYLO REN has been imprisoned by the ruthless GARDULLA THE HUTT!
- The young tyrant must survive the harsh conditions of his grandfather DARTH VADER’S homeworld!
- And who is the mysterious FORCE USER in Gardulla’s employ?
Kylo Ren’s journey after The Last Jedi seems to be quite the intriguing one…he manages to get imprisoned by Gardulla the Hutt?! I know he has to face a rancor, but now who is the Force user he’ll run into? Soule mentioned in the chat with Star Wars Explained that Kylo will hunt down an Order 66 survivor at one point, could this be such a Jedi? And who could it be, new or already revealed character? And how did they get this far along, bypass Luke’s Order, and now come under Kylo’s attention? As of this article publishing, we’re less than two weeks away from the first issue so we’ll start to get some answers soon!
The High Republic – Fear of the Jedi #3 (on sale 4/30)

BLOCKADE OVER ERIADU!
- Lines are drawn as KEEVE TRENNIS’ STORMWALL DEFENSE FLEET joins the fight against the NIHIL.
- Can Keeve remain true to the Light as she leads her team into battle?
- Meanwhile, heartbreak is relived as the past catches up with one of LOURNA DEE’S crew.
If you’ve not listened to Tempest Breaker yet, a lot of this solicit might be surprising, but let me give you a heads up: make sure to read The High Republic Adventures: Dispatches from the Occlusion Zone #4 for a little help in that matter. I’m sure Fear of the Jedi #1 will have enough exposition to get everyone caught up if you’ve been unable to check out the audio drama that picked up Keeve Trennis, Sskeer, and Lourna Dee’s stories between the previous comic and this one.
The Rise of Skywalker Adaptation #3 (on sale 4/30)

THE FUTURE OF THE GALAXY LIES IN THE WRECKAGE OF THE DEATH STAR!
- REY’s mysterious origins finally revealed!
- How will POE, FINN and CHEWBACCA escape the clutches of the FIRST ORDER and the ruthless GENERAL HUX?
- An epic clash between Rey and KYLO REN begins here, in the shadow of the Death Star!
I get this is only 5 issues long, but this seems to be going even faster than necessary…is there just that much more additional scenes being added in later on?? Or throughout? I guess I’ll find out from people sharing them online/the TPB whenever it comes out!
DARK HORSE
The High Republic Adventures #17 – Phase III (on sale 4/16)
Daniel José Older (Writer), Harvey Tolibao (Artist)
Cover by Harvey & Kevin Tolibao | Variant cover by Corin Howell
As Battle of Eriadu continues, the leader of the resistance, Jedi Knight Farzala Tarabal is faced with an impossible decision: risk the lives of his friends, or forfeit their chances of defeating the Nihil. It’s a dilemma that sees Farzala descend to a dark place, only to discover a surprising confidant.
- The climactic final battle between the Jedi and the Nihil that has been years in the making.
As of this article publishing, issue #14, which kicks off the Battle of Eriadu, is set to release in less than week, yet we’re already learning about the ending of the big battle with this solicit! Farzala looks to play a big role in the storyline, which is nice given his smaller role so far in Phase III, and hopefully Qort will get to shine alongside him as well! Best of luck to the Republic and Farzala specifically, given this solicit!
Hyperspace Stories – Codebreaker #1 (on sale 4/23)
Ethan Sacks (Writer), Marc Yarza (Artist)
Cover by Diego Galindo
On a remote Outer Rim planet, Poe Dameron and BB-8 discover a First Order base where the enemy keeps their fabled codebreaker, used to crack secret Resistance messages. Can the two heroes infiltrate—and then escape—the high-security compound guarded by merciless stormtroopers? And what mysterious technology will they find inside?
UPDATE: I forgot to mention this one when I originally posted this article but…Poe Dameron’s next starring role is here! While it’s another prequel to the sequel trilogy, I trust Ethan Sacks a ton after how he led the Bounty Hunters series and the Jango Fett miniseries, so I feel like he could easily make this live up to the legacy of Marvel’s on-going Poe series which survived longer than originally anticipated by anyone. This, like the Bad Batch miniseries below, are ones I will not be reviewing every issue, but I will post on Bluesky my reactions for each release ahead of a miniseries review on the site!
The High Republic Adventures Phase III – The Battle of Eriadu (on sale 4/30)
Alyssa Wong (Writer), Elisa Romboli (Artist)
Cover by Jake Bartok
Two estranged friends find themselves on opposing sides of the Battle of Eriadu. Jedi Padawan Gavi fights for light and life, while Driggit Parse sits at the right hand of the villainous Warden. When the two finally meet again after Driggit’s betrayal, it’s on the front lines. Can their old friendship be salvaged amidst a war?
- Award-winning writer Alyssa Wong, the author of Doctor Aphra, The High Republic: Escape from Valo, and other fan-favorite Star Wars titles, returns to the High Republic Adventures series!
This has been one of the long simmering storylines of Phase III and I’ve glad it’ll get the proper spotlight from such a great writer, Alyssa Wong, especially since they were there to help start off the storyline. Driggit’s ability to help the Republic yet still think she needs to basically go down with the Nihil to make it all right, against Gavi’s desire to have his friend back but still stung by her betrayal, will make this quite the finale to the story.
Hyperspace Stories – The Bad Batch: Ghost Agents #3 (on sale 4/30)
Michael Moreci (Writer), Reese Hannigan (Artist)
Cover by Valeria “Lux” Favoccia
After a daring operation on the planet Kessel, the Bad Batch have caught up with the masked thief who stole vital intel from Coruscant. But be careful what you wish for, clones! Because this burglar is no ordinary crook: they are a dark side Force user who wields a lightsaber with deadly precision. Can the Bad Batch get close enough to unveil their mysterious foe and retrieve the intel?
Since we already got the cover for the fourth issue of this series, we know the mysteriously masked individual: Asajj Ventress! Looks like this series might add a little context to their meeting with Asajj as we saw in The Bad Batch’s third season!
