Marvel is slowly revealing what they have in store for 2025 and beyond and Dark Horse is getting to the end of their High Republic content, which means February 2025 Star Wars comics might be one of the smallest release slates in years. But it won’t be quiet, as at least three new series are debuting, one being the once thought dead The Rise of Skywalker adaptation, another being Marvel’s The High Republic finale series, and lastly, the Legacy of Vader on-going! Head below now to check out the solicitations for February 2025’s Star Wars comics!
We’ll have a separate post with all the upcoming Black History Month variants soon, once they are all released, as even March’s Jedi Knights will have a cover too!

Legacy of Vader #1 (on sale 2/5)

DARTH VADER’S SHADOW EXTENDS INTO…THE RISE OF THE FIRST ORDER!
- The reign of SUPREME LEADER KYLO REN begins!
- Kylo’s dark obsession leads him to MUSTAFAR!
- What secrets does FORTRESS VADER hold for the young tyrant?
- And what face from the past will guide him on his quest?
As I mentioned when this was announced in October ‘24 (there are some preview pages!), I’d hope we’d be done with Darth Vader comics for awhile and technically we are, but Legacy of Vader is a sneaky way of referencing him via Kylo Ren’s obsession with his grandfather. This aspect wasn’t totally explored in the films, so I am curious to see, as he delves more into Vader’s past once he’s isolated and alone as the new Supreme Leader of the First Order, what it meant to him and how it guides him going forward. Also, anything sequel trilogy is RIGHT up my alley, as it’s right now the least explored era of films, and anything to help build up its story and characters, like countless comics, TV shows, and books have for the original and prequel trilogies, is a must-read for me. It’s not the only comic starring Kylo Ren releasing in February…
The High Republic – Fear of the Jedi #1 (on sale 2/19)
Cavan Scott (Writer), Marika Cresta (Artist)
Cover by Phil Noto | Black History Month Variant by Mateus Manhanini | Variant by Greg Land | Variant by Carlo Pagulayan
WHAT SCARES THE JEDI?
- New York Times Best-selling author Cavan Scott (Venom: Zombiotes, Union Jack the Ripper) returns with artist Marika Cresta (DOCTOR APHRA, CAPTAIN CARTER) for the galaxy-shattering final arc of Star Wars: The High Republic.
- As fighting within the Nihil Occlusion Zone intensifies, Jedi Master Keeve Trennis is set upon a path that will change her life forever.
- Guest-starring The Acolyte’s Wookiee Jedi Master Kelnacca alongside fan-favorite characters from Star Wars: The High Republic novels, audio dramas and comics.
This solicit is pretty light on details and it makes sense given the audio drama Tempest Breaker is set to release December 3, as it is the continuation of the events of The High Republic – Phase III and Fear of the Jedi will take place after it. Can’t have too many spoilers just yet, can they? Having received an early review copy of Tempest Breaker, no spoilers from me either, but it’s an intriguing and somewhat wild ride after the end of The High Republic #10 – Phase III, I can tell you that! So I’ll be interested to see how it all plays out, as it’ll give us hints at what to expect in Fear of the Jedi! And I am excited to see more Kelnacca in this era, regardless of The Acolyte’s ultimate fate.
Ahsoka #8 (on sale 2/19)

THE JEDI, THE WITCH, AND THE WARLORD!
The heroes race to prevent Grand Admiral Thrawn’s escape!
You can check out our review of the eight and season finale Ahsoka episode here! Also, the show’s first season just got the news it’ll be available on physical media starting December 2024.
The Rise of Skywalker Adaptation #1 (on sale 2/26)
Jody Houser (Writer), Will Sliney (Artist)
Cover by Phil Noto | Black History Month Variant by Ken Lashley | Variant by Jodie Muir | Variant by Brian Stelfreeze | Movie Variant Cover
THE FINAL BATTLE FOR THE GALAXY BEGINS!
- As the Resistance struggles against the First Order’s dominance, POE DAMERON discovers an unthinkable threat on the horizon.
- As the fate of the galaxy hangs in the balance, REY must find a way to the hidden SITH hideout, putting her on a collision course with KYLO REN!
- With only hours to act, will our heroes avert the devastation of the FINAL ORDER?
….somehow, The Rise of Skywalker comic adaptation has returned! Announced way back in February 2020, COVID shutting the world down and messing with all sorts of industries led to Episode IX’s comic adaptation to be quietly shelved, but Marvel just revealed it would see the light of day again. I’m still not a big fan of adaptations, but given the extra context the novelization provided to the story and the promise this will feature new scenes not in the film, I do think I’ll have to check out the trade paperback when it arrives to see what’s been added. Also, some of the preview pages shown in the re-announcement look pretty good already, so I’d like to see more of what Sliney will bring to the table. Plus, reading an expansion of Kylo’s story in Legacy of Vader could fit very well with seeing his final story (for now?) via this expanded take on The Rise of Skywalker.
DARK HORSE
The High Republic Adventures #15 – Phase III (on sale 2/12)
Daniel José Older (Writer), Harvey Tolibao (Artist)
Cover by Harvey & Kevin Tolibao
Eriadu is a battleground! Qort, Farzala, and their allies fight valiantly against the Nihil as they vie for control of the planet and the galaxy! But our heroes’ brave yet meager fighting force is drastically outnumbered by Marchion Ro’s vast army, bolstered by merciless droids and savage war beasts. Will help arrive for the forces of light and life before they are overwhelmed?
Issues 14-17 create one large connected landscape image!
Given how drastic and large this big finale battle on Eriadu is set to be for The High Republic Adventures – Phase III, I’m even more happy the series has taken a slight detour to events on Valo beforehand, as it’s sort of relaxing compared to what is likely to be an emotional rollercoaster. Also, this is currently, barring any delays from January releases, the first month in awhile where it’s only the main THRA series and not also one of its various spin-offs releasing, which seems kind of wild!
Hyperspace Stories: The Bad Batch – Ghost Agents #1 (on sale 2/12)
Michael Moreci (Writer), Reese Hannigan, Ruairi Coleman (Artist)
Cover by Valeria “Lux” Favoccia
The Bad Batch is back for another high-octane adventure set during the Clone Wars! Their mission: to hunt down the mysterious Separatist ghost agent who executed a daring heist on Coruscant! The thief’s trail leads Hunter, Wrecker, Crosshair, and Tech to the seediest corners of the galaxy where kingpins and thugs threaten the clones’ mission – and their lives! Have the Bad Batch met their match?
- The first Bad Batch solo comics miniseries, set during the Clone Wars!
- Written by Michael Moreci, the bestselling author of Star Wars: Hyperspace Stories and Burning Fields, and illustrated by Ruairi Coleman, the acclaimed artist of Star Wars Adventures: The Weapon of a Jedi and Captain Marvel.
- Five issue series.
{DELAYED FROM JANUARY} The announcement said Reese Hannigan as illustrator but the solicitations says Ruairi Coleman, so…I guess we’ll see when we get closer to release (UPDATE: It”s both, one is penciller, the other providing inks). Either way, I’m hyped to have Moreci back, as he did a great job with the Bad Batch in the main Hyperspace Stories, while just having more of the main crew together should be fun, considering they were put through quite the ringer in the show.
