Star Wars Day 2020: Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian Docu-Series Announced, Premieres Alongside The Clone Wars Series Finale

May the Fourth, otherwise known as Star Wars Day, looks to be a busy one on Disney+ in 2020! Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian documentary series will launch on the Force-filled holiday, diving into behind-the-scenes on the first live-action TV show, while the series finale for The Clone Wars will air a few days early, bringing the much celebrated show to an end on one of the Saga’s most important days.

The 8-episode documentary series, Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian, will air its first episode on May 4 and ever subsequent Friday afterwards. From the press release:

“Topics this season include the filmmaking process, the legacy of George Lucas’s Star Wars, how the cast brought the characters to life, the series’ groundbreaking technology, the artistry behind the show’s practical models, effects, and creatures, plus the creative influences, the iconic score, and connections to Star Wars characters and props from across the galaxy.”

Each episode will focus on different aspects of making the show, including, “…interviews, never-before-seen footage, and roundtable conversations hosted by {executive producer Jon} Favreau himself.” Interviews will include cast and crew, so of course I’m most curious to hear how Baby Yoda…sorry, “The Child,” feels about his popularity and what he enjoyed most about the first season and what he looks forward to for the next one! Seriously though, I hope there’s one whole episode devoted solely to Baby Yoda, while one digging into Ludwig Göransson’s mesmerizing, unique score is my most anticipated. I’m also interested hearing more from the cast, now that they can talk openly about the show, and more footage of how they made most of the show with indoor, virtual LED sets should be neat as well.

Spooky

A day after The Clone Wars revealed its fantastic final TV spot hyping up the final arc of the show, The Siege of Mandalore, it’s now revealed the show’s series finale will also air on May the Fourth! That means the final four episodes will air April 17, April 24, May 1, and May 4. Plan your emotional state and Kleenex boxes accordingly. And check back to the Manor for our The Clone Wars reviews!
