Star Wars: Visions Volume 3 Arrives 2025, Studios Announced!

While it seemed like a given considering the love from fans and the many nominations previous Volumes of Star Wars: Visions have received, it’s nice to see the confirmation a third volume is on its way for 2025! I suspect we’ll learn a lot more at April’s Star Wars Celebration in Japan, given Volume 3 returns the series solely to the country’s legendary anime scene, but for now we know the studios, some new and some returning, we’ll get to feast on new shorts from: Production I.G., Studio TRIGGER, Kinema citrus, Kamikaze Douga, ANIMA, David Production, Polygon Pictures, Project Studio Q, and WIT Studio. Head below for some thoughts about the returning studios and brief info on the new ones!

It seems like it’s every other year we get a new Volume of Visions, but in-between they’ve been keeping the moniker alive via a novel, comics, and artbooks, though it seems like the current iteration of the comics is over for now, having only had two issues, only one of them introducing a new story by Peach Momoko. As for what to expect for Volume 3, here’s my rundown of the returning and new studios:

Image depicting the logos for the studios behind Star Wars: Visions Volume 3: and some returning, we’ll get to feast on new shorts from: Production I.G., Studio TRIGGER, Kinema citrus, Kamikaze Douga, ANIMA, David Production, Polygon Pictures, Project Studio Q, and WIT Studio

For the returning studios:

  • Studio TRIGGER made both “The Elder” and “The Twins” for Volume 1, so I guess they could either show more of the eponymous Elder’s backstory or pick up the story of the Twins, but I feel like I’d like to see what else they could make and offer instead.
  • Kamikaze Douga brought to life the visually striking “The Duel” for Vol. 1, but I can’t image they’d return to the world of that short, only because it already got an absolutely excellent sequel in Ronin: A Visions Novel (unless they are adapting it), and plenty of prequels in comics, in both Star Wars: Visions #1 and Star Wars: Visions – Takashi Okazaki. I’d love to see them bring something new to life instead given how much their short’s world has already been expanded.
  • Kinema citrus is behind one of Vol. 1’s most memorable shorts, “The Village Bride”! It still remains as one of my absolute favorites out of all of Visions at this point, due to its intriguing story, realized world, and F’s absolutely stellar introduction and reveal. Could the minds at Kinema citrus be returning to F and more of her adventures? I really hope so, as I think F could have quite the story left to tell. Otherwise, if they go for a new story, I imagine it could be another favorite given their work so far.
  • Lastly, is Production I.G., which is responsible for Vol. 1’s most expandable and memorable short, “The Ninth Jedi.” If “The Village Bridge” felt like a world one could be sucked into, “The Ninth Jedi” was a story which absolutely begged to have more from, given its rich world-building, unique setting in a far flung future full of Sith, the lightsaber smith idea, and so much more. If there’s any studio which would likely return to their short, I feel like the best odds are on Production I.G., as it’s been requested by fans for years now and there is so much more they could do with their world. If they don’t, much like with Kinema citrus, I’m sure a new story by them could end up being just as memorable.

As for the new studios:

  • ANIMA Inc. seems to have worked on everything from cutscenes for the Fire Emblem games for Nintendo to the recent Sand Land TV series. They’ll be working with Kamikaze Douga for their short.
  • Polygon Pictures has quite the list of content, working on various games, TV series, animated films, you name it, though one will be the most familiar to Star Wars fans: The Clone Wars.
  • David Production seems to be best known for their work on JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure.
  • WIT Studio was founded by Production I.G. producers and is best known for working on the first three seasons of Attack on Titan.
  • Lastly is Project Studio Q, but I couldn’t find anything regarding what they’ve worked on.

Head back to the Manor for more news on Star Wars: Visions Volume 3 as we get it, as I suspect we could get more details on what stories each studio is telling ahead of a very likely panel (with trailer) at Celebration Japan in April 2025.
