Doctor Aphra: An Audiobook Original might have retread ground from her initial appearances, but it far exceeded any and all expectations this Aphra fan had, and then some! If audiobooks aren’t really your thing, or you’re hearing impaired, you too can finally get a chance to enjoy this excellent, chaotic audiobook with the release of a script book on April 6, 2021. Not only did they reveal a cover for the script book, but the announcement of the upcoming release included a Dramatis Personae written by Chelli Lona Aphra herself, and damn it’s just as hilarious and enjoyable as the rest of the production. The script book promises more new content beyond that little surprise, so I’ll be curious to see what that entails, but I was going pick this up anyways! Head below for the full cover and links to our current Doctor Aphra (Vol. 2) reviews! Continue reading “Doctor Aphra Audiobook Script Gets Hardcover Release April 2021, New Content”

Canon Audiobook Review: Doctor Aphra – An Audiobook Original
– Spoiler Review –
Doctor Aphra: An Audiobook Original, written by Sarah Kuhn and performed by a full cast, takes the earliest adventures of the titular doctor and presents them from her own point of view. Thanks to it being full of humor, heart, and adventure, this Aphra fan (I can’t pretend to be anything but) had every expectation broken by the audiobook, and the cast, especially Emily Woo Zeller as Chelli Lona Aphra and Nicole Lewis as Sana Starros, dazzled to the point I grinned the entire way through the production and immediately wanted more! Doctor Aphra Audiobook Excerpt Released!
We are almost a week away from the Doctor Aphra audiobook, which adapts and expands her initial appearance in the Darth Vader comic, and the first excerpt has been released! It’s our first chance to hear Aphra brought to life and Emily Woo Zeller delivers on so many levels, that despite my hype, I got instant chills hearing her as Aphra, as it’s even better than I expected! The excerpt includes a little space battle between her and Maz Kanata, who’s mad at her because she naturally stole something from the vaunted space pirate, and the banter between the two had me laughing hard; writer Sarah Kuhn has hit the mark as far as this 7 minutes is concerned and I can only imagine how much fun the rest of this will be! While an original scene, the item Aphra steals from Maz is one she uses in her heist of the Triple-Zero matrix, as seen in her debut way back in 2015, so the connections are strong already! Speaking of those, I have a primer article with what you could expect in the audiobook, while it has a panel for SDCC@Home on July 24. Doctor Aphra: An Audiobook Original hits your ears July 21, but head below to listen to the excerpt now! UPDATE: And here’s my review! Continue reading “Doctor Aphra Audiobook Excerpt Released!”
“Blasters I Know. But People…” – Doctor Aphra: An Audiobook Original Primer
In July, Doctor Aphra gets the audiobook treatment, adapting and expanding on her initial introduction in the Darth Vader (Vol. 1) comic series. As a big Aphra fan, this is extremely exciting news for me and something I’m eager to listen to and enjoy! Also, I immediately began to wonder what exactly all the expanded content could include, especially since they teased more Sana Starros, so I went back and reread the opening arc of the Vader (Vol. 1) series, and more, to figure out what and how they could add to Aphra’s side of things. So if you want to see all the potential inherit in Doctor Aphra: An Audiobook Original’s expansions, head below for some ideas on what you might be able to expect! UPDATE: Now here’s my review!
