Star Wars Comics May 2024 Solicitations

May is a rather joyous around the Manor and in Star Wars fandom overall, as the always growing celebrations of May the Fourth provide much to enjoy! This year it falls on Free Comic Book Day and there are two special FCBD issues to enjoy then, while that same weekend The Phantom Menace returns to theaters to celebrate 25 years! The comics are joining in on the film’s anniversary with a special one-shot and a series of anniversary covers, plus other prequel-set stories including Maul-centric chaos, but fans of all eras will have plenty to look forward to with plenty of big The High Republic moments and the Rebellion trying to rescue Mon Mothma (?!), to name a few things. Starting in January 2021 with Charles Soule’s Light of the Jedi, The High Republic has captivated fans for years now with a large cast of characters, unique era and stakes, tons of representation, and so much more. With Soule’s Shadows of Starlight #1, The High Republic era reaches its third and final Phase, Trials of the Jedi, by beginning to bridge the gap between the first and third Phases with some big surprises and hints at how connected this story really has been. If this is just the opening salvo in comic book form, you can only bet what sort of a wild ride fans, new or old, will be taken on in Phase III. Comic News: Next Revelations One-Shot Announced, More Ronin for Star Wars: Visions Comics

I focus a lot on Star Wars’ comics on the Manor, especially thanks to it introducing my favorite character Doctor Aphra, and now more than ever it’s hard not to think about their future. We’ve been in the six months period between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi for three years now and are currently in the middle of its fourth crossover event, so a little fatigue has set in, minus for series set outside said era. The announcement of the Star Wars: Visions one-shots was a fresh injection, as is the news we’ll get more backstory for “The Duel,” but where’s a similar freshness for the main stories? Star Wars Comics November 2023 Solicitations

As fall settles in and winter fast approaches, the days grow darker ever quicker here in the Midwest, fitting for the penultimate month of the Dark Droids crossover and the feeling of helplessness most of these issues will hold before our heroes manage to prevail against the droid Scourge. November then could really benefit from some light and life, couldn’t it? Phase III of The High Republic begins in earnest as Marvel’s on-going from Cavan Scott kicks off, alongside more Shadows of Starlight, while letting Peach Momoko set the stage for a series of Star Wars: Visions one-shots all sounds like the perfect remedy to the darkness, no? Star Wars Comics October 2023 Solicitations

At this age in my life, I don’t really expect a ton of gifts in my birthday month, instead looking forward to spending time with friends and family. While I don’t expect gifts, I always hope Star Wars comics will have some for me and October 2023 certainly does, as well as what are totally not gifts and are leaving me shaking in my Manor best robes. On the gift side, there’s some big droid showdowns in Artoo’s quest to save Threepio, The High Republic returns with what looks to be a impactful issue, Doctor Aphra and Magna Tolvan get back together….only for Magna to become a Scourge-infect gremlin?! And there’s going to be more Lando and Lobot drama that I’m sure my heart can handle anymore? High Republic News: Shadows of Starlight Comic Announced

At the Celebration Europe 2023 High Republic panel, there was tons of big reveals, like all the novel names for Phase III and the fact Vernestra Rwoh would somehow be in The Acolyte show, but one moment left a big question mark for fans: what was the mysterious yet to be announced title set for October?! Well, wait no longer, as This Week! In Star Wars revealed it’s an upcoming 4-issue comic miniseries, written by Charles Soule with art by Ibraim Roberson, titled Shadows of Starlight. It covers the year gap between Phase I and Phase III, focusing on different characters each issue, starting with the Jedi Order’s High Council, then Avar Kriss and Elzar Mann, next is Bell Zettifar, and lastly, Marchion Ro!
