Canon Audiobook Review: The High Republic – Tempest Breaker

– Spoiler Review –

Lourna Dee has spent a majority of her time shouting her name at the galaxy, but after spending more time with Jedi like Master Keeve Trennis, could it lead to changes or will she still be her normal, backstabbing, running-away-from-everything self? Cavan Scott’s The High Republic: Tempest Breaker, performed by a full cast, deals with Lourna at such a crossroads, and while it takes some time to get going, the compounded character journeys propel it into a memorable ride with compelling themes. Canon Audiobook Review: The High Republic – The Battle of Jedha

– Spoiler Review –

Kicking off 2023’s The High Republic Phase II content is none other than George Mann’s audio drama The Battle of Jedha, performed by a full cast. Set after the events of Convergence, the audio drama finds Jedha the center of a major peace treaty, though the forces conspiring against peace and the Jedi in the galaxy turn events on their head. With some excellent performances across the cast, great messages for our world and the characters in the story, and a solid pace, The Battle of Jedha makes for a memorable experience in Phase II, though it runs into some issues I have with audio productions while also ends up feeling more like a stepping stone rather than a destination event. Canon Audiobook Review: Doctor Aphra – An Audiobook Original

Spoiler Review –

Doctor Aphra: An Audiobook Original, written by Sarah Kuhn and performed by a full cast, takes the earliest adventures of the titular doctor and presents them from her own point of view. Thanks to it being full of humor, heart, and adventure, this Aphra fan (I can’t pretend to be anything but) had every expectation broken by the audiobook, and the cast, especially Emily Woo Zeller as Chelli Lona Aphra and Nicole Lewis as Sana Starros, dazzled to the point I grinned the entire way through the production and immediately wanted more! Canon Audiobook Review: Dooku – Jedi Lost

Dooku Jedi Lost Review

Spoiler Review –

Dooku: Jedi Lost is an audiobook written by Cavan Scott and performed by a full cast, a first of its kind endeavor for Star Wars books. On Scott’s script alone, this dive down Dooku’s memory lane is exceptional, revealing some key and vital events to understanding the Count, as well as some much appreciated Asajj Ventress content, while the performance/audio work had its share of strengths and weaknesses that makes the risk mostly worth it.
