Comic News: Battle of Jakku Maxiseries Announced, New High Republic Covers Revealed

Ahead of the SDCC publishing panel on July 25, the official site decided a few reveals were in order, starting with our first glimpse of what’s to follow this current era of comics: The Battle of Jakku maxiseries! Judging from the cover and the description, it looks like the comic will incorporate the defunct mobile game Star Wars: Uprising, as well as the Aftermath Trilogy, to solidify the lead up to the final battle of the Galactic Civil War. We also got covers for some upcoming The High Republic releases early, so between the maxiseries and the covers already being revealed, I expect we’ll be in for quite the treat at this panel! Book News: High Republic’s Edge of Balance Vol. 3 Cover & The Living Force’s Map, First Excerpt Revealed

Sometimes, it’s the simple things which build up excitement for a book, one usually being the cover, another being an excerpt, and lastly a special poster or something like that. With this week’s news, we get a great cover and additional details on the upcoming The High Republic – The Edge of Balance Vol. 3, while with April’s The Living Force novel…WE GET A MAP!!! Shima Shinya, this time with Daniel José Older, and Mizuki Sakakibara return to further expand the adventures of Lily Tora-Asi and the Jedi Temple on Banchii in The Edge of Balance Vol. 2, published by Viz Media LLC. With the temple fresh off the recent Drengir attack, it finds itself struggling to prepare for any further fights, and in the process gets caught up in the era’s bigger events, robbing some of the magic which made the first volume special, but it still remains an unique and intriguing viewpoint into the era. With a story by Shima Shinya and Justina Ireland, and art by Mizuki Sakakibara, The Edge of Balance Vol. 1 stars Lily Tora-Asi, a Jedi Knight helping relocate citizens affected by the Great Hyperspace Disaster to the remote planet of Banchii, and while she still works on her path as a Jedi, a menace tests Lily and friends like never before. Livestream for The High Republic Launch Reveals Trailer, New Content, Three Phases, And More!!
