The Last Jedi Teaser and Panel Impressions (SWCO 2017)

“I only know one truth. It’s time for the Jedi to end.” Luke finally speaks in Star Wars: The Last Jedi‘s first trailer and they are words no-one expected him to say (and they sent chills up my spine) and has gotten the theory wagon running wild on what will take place in the upcoming installment of the Skywalker Saga. Likewise, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Kathleen Kennedy, Rian Johnson, Kelly Marie Tran, and of course Mark Hamill all divulged a few new hints about the film, which ranged from exciting to haunting, much like the trailer. So go ahead, enjoy the trailer a few more hundred times and then read ahead for my impressions of the panel at Star Wars Celebration Orlando 2017 (which I finally wrote after I was done rewatching the trailer and stopped staring at the teaser poster we received for being at the show…both hard to stop doing). Kicking off Star Wars Celebration Orlando 2017 the right way, at 12am EST April 13 nonetheless, the Forces of Destiny animated shorts (plus toys and books, of course) were announced, which highlight the women of the GFFA like Rey, Leia, Padme, Sabine, Ahsoka, Jyn, Hera, and even Maz Kanata in exciting new canon tales. More details from the initial announcement below, including plot details and that many actresses are returning to voice their characters, while much more is promised to come from SWCO soon (at Friday’s Heroines of Star Wars panel, which we will hopefully be at which I was at and was a highlight from the weekend, but it didn’t cover anything really new about these shorts)! Dave Filoni: Animated Origins and Unexpected Fates Panel Impressions (SWCO 2017)

Dave Filoni and Pablo Hidalgo for Animated Origins and Unexpected FatesAs has been the custom over the past two celebrations, Dave Filoni and Pablo Hidalgo reveal inside looks at characters and unreleased behind-the-scenes details and new footage from the animated shows The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels. Unlike The Untold Clone Wars or Ahsoka’s Untold Tales, Animated Origins and Unexpected Fates wasn’t nearly as revealing, though there were teases for what’s to come on Rebels‘ 4th season (including Ahsoka returning!) and a great clip from TCW featuring Boba Fett and Cad Bane, but Filoni and Hidalgo are such a joy to listen to talking about Star Wars, the panel is always a blast no matter how much they give away.
