Star Wars and the words Holiday Special have been a thing of myths since the first and much maligned one released on TV 22 years ago, buried deep by George Lucas. Watching it, through grainy YouTube videos or other means, is like a rite of passage for many fans, despite its bizarre and questionable quality. And now, in the craziest year of all, LEGO decided to try to make Holiday Specials a part of the Star Wars experience again, and much like Yoda always says, they didn’t try, they actually did make Holiday Specials something you’d like to watch again with Star Wars. The LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special, bundled with humor, wrapped in fun appearances, and containing a solid little story with characters new and old, is an inoffensive special fans of all ages can find some joy in watching. LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special Trailer Brings the Laughs

After the past 5 to 6 years of taking itself very seriously, it’s time for Star Wars to have some fun again, let loose, and throw Rey Skywalker across time and space to mess with timeline for some irreverent holiday fun. Thank LEGO it’s happening, this month, when The LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special arrives on Disney+ on November 17! If the first trailer for the new special is anything to go by, irreverent holiday fun might be a big understatement, as this looks like a total freaking joy. Baby Yoda appearance? Check. Vader covering up a preemptive reveal to Luke? Check. Ben Swolo humor? Check. More Podracing? Double Check. The evitable “Shoot First” joke? Check and Check. Get Your Jedi Carols Ready: Lego Star Wars Holiday Special Hits Disney+ Nov 17!

I never thought I’d have to type, let alone be excited and hyped to do so, the words, “Star Wars Holiday Special,” but when Lego is attached and there’s actually a fun premise, full of winks and nods to the original mess of a special and all over the Saga, suddenly all is right with the galaxy. On November 17, 42 years to the day of the original special’s release, The Lego Star Wars Holiday Special will release on Disney+, taking us past The Rise of Skywalker, and all over the Saga, as Rey, Finn, Poe, and Rose try to celebrate Life Day with Chewie and his family, but Rey’s dive into the mysteries of the Force pulls her and BB-8 through different eras and moments in the Saga as she rushes to get back to her friends.
