Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge — Last Call Releases September 15, New Trailer

Less than a month ago, we got our first details and trailer for Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge – Last Call expansion, though much like the most recent LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga trailer, it didn’t have a release date beyond Fall 2021. All that changed today with the final trailer, an expansive look at the big update to the game, which reveals it’ll drop in two short weeks for Oculus Quest: September 15! For only $10, Last Call looks to add tons of new content to the game, from a wide variety of new characters to interact with, two new side tales (one starring Ady Sun’Zee again and the other IG-88), and a larger main story with new enemy types and tons of puzzles. Head below for a few more thoughts, the added cast, and then check back sometime later this month for a review!

As detailed a month ago, Last Call finds the player on a mission for Dok-Ondar to secure an artifact, where they ally themselves with Lens Kamo (Karla Crome), a relic hunter, in a rush to grab it before Baron Attsmun (Mark Rolston) takes it for nefarious purposes. The new trailer hints characters like Hondo Ohnaka (once again voiced by Jim Cummings) will get involved, while the arrival of the First Order means some classic stormtroopers to face, alongside their leader Lt. Gauge (Daman Mills). The treasure hunting looks to involve a lot of VR-worthy puzzles, which will be a nice change of pace beyond the little supply caches from the first part of the game, while having stormtroopers and big droid enemies (which look like the ones in Vader Immortal, ILMxLABs’ previous Quest game) adds some variety to the enemy types missing in part one as well.

There are two new side quests: one sees a return to The High Republic era with Ady Sun’Zee (Ellie Araiza), who has a new Jedi alongside her Neeva (Anika Noni Rose) instead of Yoda like last time, and this story looks to have some fun Force-related tests and who knows what else; the second will see the player become IG-88!! Since he’s a droid, he can target multiple enemies at once, so it looks like a fun shooter orientated story like the arcade machines with the toy guys back in the day. Also, it seems it’s now canon all the IG series droids have a New Zealand accent, as Rhys Darby voices the deadly assassin on his latest mission!

Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge – Last Call launches on Oculus Quest Sept 15 and I’ll have a review sometime before October, but in the meantime you can see me make a fool of myself a bit in my review of Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge – Part I!
