Young Jedi Adventures Premieres May 4, Books Announced {UPDATED}

As a big fan of the initiative, it’s been awesome to see The High Republic grow beyond its publishing beginnings. I’ve had the chance to enjoy the VR related games out there and am eagerly awaiting The Acolyte’s premiere, though on May 4 (April 26 for the shorts) here’s more High Republic-era set content on its way: Young Jedi Adventures! The youngling focused animated series premieres on Disney+ for Star Wars Day alongside Star Wars Visions Volume 2, while a range of books have been announced for the newest and youngest fans to enjoy, so head below for all the details!

Per the original announcement, set in High Republic era, Young Jedi Adventures, “…follows Jedi younglings as they study the ways of the Force, explore the galaxy, help citizens and creatures in need, and learn valuable skills needed to become Jedi along the way.” Both of the images released alongside this May the Fourth announcement feature the series’ main characters: Kai, Lys, and Nubs, their friends Nash and RJ-83, and of course Master Yoda on the planet Tenoo. The internet is in love with Nubs and rightfully so, he’s an adorable Pooba and he deserves to thrive and be as cute as he wants to be as long as he wants to! Some Easter Egg noticing fans put together the droid is a little reference to Return of the Jedi since it released in 1983 (40 years ago this year!).

Lys, Kai, Nubs with ignited lightsabers

To bring these animated adventures to life, we now know the cast of the show as well: Jamaal Avery, Jr. as Kai Brightstar, Juliet Donenfeld as Lys Solay, Dee Bradley Baker as Nubs, Emma Berman as Nash Durango, Jonathan Lipow as RJ-83, and Piotr Michael as Master Yoda.

While it’s unknown how many episodes will be released or if they’ll be dropped all at once or not, throughout the remainder of 2023 there will be a few books for young readers to enjoy as well if they want more Kai, Lys, and Nubs (we all want more Nubs)! There will be:

  • Young Jedi Adventures: Jedi Training (May 2)
  • Young Jedi Adventures: My First Comic Reader Level 1 (June)
  • Get Well, Nubs (July 25)
  • Yoda’s Mission: World of Reading Level 1 Reader / The Young Jedi: World of Reading Level 1 Reader  (September 5)
