– Spoiler-Free Review –

We’re all cordially invited to the wedding of Han Solo and Princess Leia and not even a honeymoon set on the Halcyon, aka the real-world Star Wars hotel, is enough to derail what a delight The Princess and the Scoundrel ends up becoming, as author Beth Revis deeply explores the titular duo through some pivotal emotional beats, all while providing exciting action and romance like only these two could produce. Canon Novel Review: Shadow of the Sith

Slight Spoiler Review –

Written by Adam Christopher, Shadow of the Sith is one of the first big novels to explore a pivotal moment between the original and sequel trilogies, as it covers events first brought to light in The Rise of Skywalker regarding Rey’s past. While it wraps up several lingering threads which emerged once those details were revealed, in an entertaining, well-paced, and satisfying way, it builds off other works and injects some surprising and exciting new content to bolster the story to make for a memorable package that ascends its purpose. In a way, it reads like a classic Legends novel, expanding backstory only hinted at in the films while bringing in new elements, but also leaving a heavier dive into internal narration wanting. Canon Novel Review by Chris: Brotherhood

Authors of Star Wars book, “more to say, have you”, on the Clone Wars? Seems hard to believe, seeing how much material has already been created focusing on the era. Specifically, seven seasons of a TV show, a handful of comic mini-series, and the beginning and end of the second Prequel films, and plenty more have explored the Clone Wars. My first reaction to hearing that Del Rey was going to be producing yet another Clone Wars story was met with more “…huh, okay” from me than an enthusiastic welcome. And, unfortunately, the nature of From a Certain Point of View stories meant that I couldn’t remember Mike Chen’s entry in the anthology well. Thankfully, my trepidation and forgetfulness was negated by what turned out to be a well-written, engaging novel: Star Wars Brotherhood! Continue reading “Canon Novel Review by Chris: Brotherhood”

Brotherhood Review MynockManor Ryan

Slight Spoiler Review –

Brotherhood, written by Mike Chen, taps into a unique point in Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker’s life, just after the events of Attack of the Clones as the war builds and their Master and Apprentice roles change, and reveals how the two adjust to their new lives due to some business on Cato Neimoidia. Thanks to some intriguing new characters that challenge the pair’s ways and our perceptions of them and other aspects of Star Wars, as well as beautiful, lush, and sometimes haunting prose, Brotherhood secures itself a spot in a select pantheon of memorable and engaging top-notch Star Wars books.
