Sometimes, it’s just one of those days: an audiobook original for Audible gets shadow dropped by Disney Lucasfilm Press, while Dark Horse announces both a Bad Batch focused miniseries for January 2025 (via Star Wars News Net), and The High Republic Adventures Annual Phase III. Audible’s Padawan’s Pride follows a young Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi in the early days of their training (and I’ve already listened to some of it), Clone Force 99 rides again in Hyperspace StoriesThe Bad Batch: Ghost Agents, set during the Clone Wars, and the THRA Annual bring 5 stories of light and life during the era’s third Phase. Beginning with Alexander Freed’s Reign of the Empire  The Mask of Fear on February 25, 2025, the trilogy is set to chart a course of the Rebellion’s rise in the 20 years between the prequel and original trilogies, with the subsequent releases coming from authors Rebecca Roanhorse and Fran Wilde! Every Phase of The High Republic gets an audiobook original and Phase III: Trial of the Jedi’s is finally revealedTempest Breaker, written by Cavan Scott and featuring a full cast again! By the title and cover alone, Scott returns to the dastardly Lourna Dee again, but this time she’s joined by…friends? Who are Jedi?! What is going on here?! Reading Scott’s current The High Republic – Phase III run for Marvel will offer the biggest hints on how we get to this point, but there’s no doubts Tempest Breaker will be quite the story if it stars Lourna Dee and Jedi Masters Keeve Trennis and Avar Kriss! Sometimes, it’s the simple things which build up excitement for a book, one usually being the cover, another being an excerpt, and lastly a special poster or something like that. High Republic News: Saber for Hire Announced, Nameless Concept Art, and More!

With the third and final Phase of The High Republic era just getting started, we’re slowly coming to understand the scope and scale of where the story may all go. While we might know all the novel names for Phase III, it’s clear stories still remain to be announced and we got our first new one: Dark Horse’s The High Republic Adventures: Saber for Hire, starting April 10!! Jedi turned monster hunter Ty Yorrick is back in a starring role, with writer Cavan Scott and artist Rachael Stott returning to show us her next adventure, where we’ll see her face new challenges behind the Nihil’s Stormwall, including trying to be a Master! As Phase III of The High Republic really begins in earnest this month, the official site’s slowly been showing off concept art we all hoped we’d see after spying the little folder on Lucasfilm Publishing creative director Michael Siglain’s laptop at NYCC 2023.
