With The High Republic era coming to an end in June, what else will publishing give fans to read in its absence? High Republic News: Trials of the Jedi Cover Revealed!

While there are much bigger worries in the world, I still found myself a little anxious over the coming cover reveal from Charles Soule’s High Republic grand finale novel, Trials of the Jedi. Not concerning its content, but rather the bittersweet fact it’s the last (as we know, for now…) novel cover reveal for the era. It’s been an incredible journey these four years and seeing this cover, well…it’s really settling in the end isn’t just near, it’s practically here. January 29 has a big High Republic comic release, with endings to a few miniseries, the first Annual issue in a while, and the beginning of the big Battle of Eriadu storyline, so the ending has never felt more unavoidable until now, something I’m not sure how to process just yet. NYCC ’24 Lucasfilm Publishing Panel: High Republic Phase 3 Covers, Jedi Knights Comic, and More!

While it didn’t unveil what Marvel’s big Star Wars plans are, the NYCC 2024 Lucasfilm Publishing Panel did feature much anticipated covers for The High Republic’s final wave of stories, new armored Jedi concept art for the era, and a tango-y poster for the upcoming audiobook Tempest Breaker, while there was one big Marvel Comics announcement: the Jedi Knights on-going series! Publishing News: Obi-Wan & Anakin Audiobook Released, Bad Batch Comic Miniseries & High Republic Adventures Annual Announced!

Sometimes, it’s just one of those days: an audiobook original for Audible gets shadow dropped by Disney Lucasfilm Press, while Dark Horse announces both a Bad Batch focused miniseries for January 2025 (via Star Wars News Net), and The High Republic Adventures Annual Phase III. Audible’s Padawan’s Pride follows a young Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi in the early days of their training (and I’ve already listened to some of it), Clone Force 99 rides again in Hyperspace Stories – The Bad Batch: Ghost Agents, set during the Clone Wars, and the THRA Annual bring 5 stories of light and life during the era’s third Phase. Beginning with Alexander Freed’s Reign of the Empire – The Mask of Fear on February 25, 2025, the trilogy is set to chart a course of the Rebellion’s rise in the 20 years between the prequel and original trilogies, with the subsequent releases coming from authors Rebecca Roanhorse and Fran Wilde! High Republic News: Next Audiobook, Tempest Breaker, Out December 3

Every Phase of The High Republic gets an audiobook original and Phase III: Trial of the Jedi’s is finally revealed: Tempest Breaker, written by Cavan Scott and featuring a full cast again! By the title and cover alone, Scott returns to the dastardly Lourna Dee again, but this time she’s joined by…friends? Who are Jedi?! What is going on here?! Reading Scott’s current The High Republic – Phase III run for Marvel will offer the biggest hints on how we get to this point, but there’s no doubts Tempest Breaker will be quite the story if it stars Lourna Dee and Jedi Masters Keeve Trennis and Avar Kriss! Sometimes, it’s the simple things which build up excitement for a book, one usually being the cover, another being an excerpt, and lastly a special poster or something like that. After artist Grant Griffin’s moody Phase III opening cover for The Eye of Darkness, he returns with a moody in whole different way cover for the second and penultimate adult novel of the Phase: June 11’s Temptation of the Force! Dropping this cover, which sees Elzar Mann and Avar Kriss sharing a rather intimate look now they’ve been reunited, as well as the blurb, which only doubles down on their growing feelings, on Valentine’s Day was a wonderfully calculated move; we see what you’re doing!
