The above video was released at EA Play’s E3 2016 Press Conference, showing off very brief glimpses into the upcoming future of Star Wars video games from Visceral Games, Respawn Entertainment, Motive, Capital Games, DICE, and Bioware. Shortly after, a blog post at EA.com went live, with a few more details, including a timetable. Unfortunately there wasn’t a lot revealed and what little was shown was mostly underwhelming, but there was some nice teases in regards to both Visceral and Respawn’s games, and I’ve got more details below on all that’s coming. Star Wars VR Experiences from ILMxLAB Teased
Sit back and enjoy the trailer for the Star Wars VR experiment coming out of ILMxLAB, “Trials of Tatooine” above. Now that you’ve seen it, I guarantee our reactions were very similar: it reminded you almost exactly of what you were imagining as a child (and even last weekend for me) when you were swinging your toy lightsaber around your backyard/room/basement/home/friend’s house. While it might be a ways away from something you can experience in the comfort of your VR-friendly home living room, though now much closer than ever before, it has some mind-boggling potential that I can’t wait to see be explored no matter when it releases. Details on the making-of from the creators themselves, as well as impressions from the gaming press who have been lucky enough to test it out, below. More details below on what you can expect to be playing and what exclusives you’ll get if you buy it for PlayStation consoles. Star Wars: Battlefront’s Launch Trailer is Impressive Highlight Reel
Battlefront’s launch trailer captures the one aspect of the game I thoroughly enjoyed in its open beta: it feels, in looks, sounds, and scope, like Star Wars should in video game form. The folks at DICE saved the best for last, laying on the cinematic quality of the game’s graphics in a truly impressive compilation of footage from the upcoming game. Details on the new Heroes and Villains, plus some thoughts (see: hopes) about the DLC plan below. Continue reading “Star Wars: Battlefront’s Launch Trailer is Impressive Highlight Reel”
Star Wars: Battlefront Beta Impressions with Video
Whether it’s the volcanic splashes of Sullust, the icey hallways of Echo Base, or coarse-rough-and-it-gets-everywhere sand of Tatooine, I’m sure we’ve all played a lot of Battlefront over it’s open beta weekend (there was 9 million of us who did!). I have my video impressions for you above (my first video for the site!), while my slightly more detailed thoughts reside below along with some of the latest news and some very entertaining clips other players captured. Star Wars Battlefront Beta Dated: October 8th – 12th
Set your blasters to kill because the Star Wars Battlefront Beta will be hitting PS4, Xbox One, and PC via Origin on October 8th and will last until October 12th. There’s no special requirements to be in the Beta since it’s open to everyone and even if you don’t have online multiplayer access for your console of choice, at least one game type will be available offline. I’ll be playing as much as I can on my PS4 under the PSN name BrushYourTeeth, so add me if you want someone to target on the enemy lines or as a buddy on the battlefield. More details regarding what’s available in the Beta, including details on the Companion app, below. Continue reading “Star Wars Battlefront Beta Dated: October 8th – 12th”

Star Wars Battlefront Fighter Squadron and Blast Modes Detailed, Trailer
Two new modes have been revealed for the upcoming Star Wars Battlefront, joining the several already announced, and they are Blast and Fighter Squadron, the latter of which finally has me truly excited for this revival (besides just the gorgeous graphics). I’m so excited I’ll likely end up playing Fighter Squadron so much you’ll either be lucky to see me flying your wing or be deathly afraid of me as I get you in my sights. Probably. Hopefully.
