Take a break from shopping the best deals online, watching one of the movies/tv shows, or swinging lightsabers at one another this May the Fourth 2018, and hunker down for the best gift of all: new Star Wars! Forces of Destiny‘s second season airs 7 new episodes on 5/4/2018 over at Disney’s YouTube channel, with a TV special to air on the Disney Channel May 25! Normally the TV specials are the 16 episodes of a season in one half hour block with Maz Kanata narrating, but there’s still one episode unannounced for season 2 and a certain new film, Solo: A Star Wars Story, drops the same day, so maybe the unknown 8th episode will tie into the film somehow? While we wait to find out, check out the episode descriptions for the latest batch and some choice screenshots below! (UPDATE: The new episodes have arrived!)
Here are the descriptions for the latest episodes (with my thoughts in the parenthesis):
- “Chopper and Friends” – When Chopper enlists a pair of Ewoks to help crew the Ghost, Hera is surprised to discover how resourceful the little warriors are.
- “Monster Misunderstanding” – After a water monster attacks the docks of Naboo, Queen Amidala discovers that poachers have been trying to steal the creature’s baby. (As myself and other fans have been clamoring for, Padmé looks to be without Anakin or Ahsoka, which is a nice little change of pace from late)
- “Art History” – While on a covert mission to free their people, Sabine and her brother risk everything to destroy an Imperial outpost that has defaced an important Mandalorian monument. (This probably squeezes into Star Wars Rebels seasons 3/4 timeframe, from when Sabine leaves the group until Bo-Katan is given the leadership duties, but there’s always the potential this takes place after the season finale. We’ll just have to wait and see)
- “Porgs!” – After discovering that porgs have been tearing blue wiring out of the Falcon, Chewbacca goes on a mission to find the blue moss they need for their nest.
- “Perilous Pursuit” – In a dangerous snowspeeder chase across Starkiller Base, Rey and Finn work together to escape relentless snowtroopers. (This is a deleted scene from The Force Awakens, which was included in the novelization, and is now canon thanks to this upcoming episode. It’s kind of neat to think they can give deleted scenes new life with FoD)
- “Traps and Tribulations” – Luke and Leia help a pair of Ewoks by resetting their traps to stop a rampaging Gorax. (I’m more excited about seeing Luke and Leia as siblings post-Return of the Jedi here, but if you have ever seen the Ewok TV movie Caravan of Courage, which I did ages ago, then you probably recognize the name Gorax)
- “A Disarming Lesson” – During a lightsaber training exercise, Ahsoka encourages Ezra to find his inner strength in order to anticipate her attacks on the fly. (It’s no peek into the lives of Ezra and Ahsoka after the Rebels series finale, but those wishing to see more of these two shouldn’t be disappointed)
And now a smattering of images to enjoy!
