Jedi: Fallen Order – Dark Temple Tie-in Comic Miniseries Announced

Fresh off all the new gameplay and details at E3 2019, I’m getting rather excited for Jedi: Fallen Order, and now a 5-issue prequel comic miniseries has been announced! Jedi: Fallen Order – Dark Temple, written by Matthew Rosenberg (Original Marvel Star Wars Years #108) and art by Paolo Villanelli (Lando: Double or Nothing), will follow Padawan Cere Junda and her Jedi Master Eno Cordova as they excavate a long lost temple when things, of course, get out of hand. The series premieres in September and more details, including a plot synopsis, are below!

Jedi Fallen Order Dark Temple 1 Full CoverHere’s the synopsis:

“…the tale follows Jedi Master Eno Cordova and his impulsive Padawan Cere Junda — on a seemingly simple mission that becomes much more dangerous. The Jedi Council sends the pair to the remote planet Ontotho to oversee the excavation of a mysterious temple; on Ontotho, dueling forces of local resistance and ruthless security troops clash in a war for the fate of the planet, with the Jedi caught in the middle.”

Cere Junda, a Padawan during the events of this comic, has already been revealed as the teacher of Jedi: Fallen Order’s main character Cal Kestis. Cere recruits Cal to help her restore the Jedi Order, and in an article by Game Informer, the developers at Respawn Entertainment have teased that, “…whatever Cere knows becomes the game’s McGuffin to a degree” So maybe Dark Temple will deliver some hints at what secrets she carries!

As for Cere’s Master, Eno Cordova, he’s a new character, but the first issue’s official cover makes me believe he’ll be a presence in the game as well. Why do I say that? Because Eno looks a lot, and I mean a lot a lot, like character actor Tony Amendola (SG-1Continuum)! I could understand it simply being an artistic choice by cover artist Marco Checchetto, but the similarities are too uncanny to be by coincidence. In fact, so far all the actors playing parts in Jedi: Fallen Order have had nothing really changed from their real faces, which is why I think we’ll be seeing Eno, as played by Amendola, in the game itself! In fact, I wondered as much on Twitter and Checchetto’s response all but seems to confirm it! Since the GI article on the game also states there likely won’t be any flashbacks, if we see Eno, it’s either going to be via some holorecording of Cere’s or he’ll actually be actively in it, making one wonder how he connects to Cere’s goals that Cal is helping with…good or bad. The comic isn’t even out and already it’s stoking my excitement for the game!

This will be writer Matthew Rosenberg’s first canon comic, as he brought back the feeling of the 80’s in the one-off continuation of the Legends Star Wars Original Marvel Years with issue #108 released last month. Artist Paolo Villanelli has previously worked on such series as Lando: Double or NothingAge of Republic – Special #1, and Vader – Dark Visions #1, of which his art is always a delight to see.

Dark Temple starts in September, while the game arrives on November 15! UPDATE: Review of the first issue is in!
