Legendary Adventures: New Jedi Order – Force Heretic Trilogy

The Yuuzhan Vong’s invasion is as intense as ever, but key losses on their side seem to have finally tipped the war irrevocably to the New Republic. Leaders for their respective sides, Luke Skywalker and Nom Amor, go on a search that will finally shift the tide of the war to one side…permanently. Join the Legendary Adventures as we read the New Jedi Order – Force Heretic Trilogy!

After Admiral Ackbar’s trap at Ebaq-9, the Yuuzhan Vong forces are depleted. After the loss of their warmaster, and influential figure Nom Amor, the New Republic can finally say that they have the advantage in the war. With major losses at the beginning of the war, which turned into more of a give-and-take of victories and losses in the middle of the war, especially with the loss of Coruscant, the New Republic sees a bright future ahead for the galaxy. But it’s not just the military victories which have given them this confidence: after Vong-sympathizer and former Jedi Vergere was captured, she divulged some important information to the New Republic. The Yuuzhan Vong are connected with a planet called Zonoma Sekot, a sentient planet that has rejected the Vong. Jedi Master Luke Skywalker now believes that finding Zonoma Sekot is the key to ridding the galaxy of the Vong entirely.

Luke’s search for the planet eventually leads him to Munlali Mafir, where the Jedi have to work with stormtroopers to find Zonoma Sekot. The native people tell Luke what happens when Zonoma Sekot appears around a planet, which brings ecological disaster and chaos. They are eventually forced to leave the planet, and travel to Chiss space to arrive at Csilla. They are given a short time to study their records and find Sekot, but Chiss zealots threaten their plans when they kidnap Soontir Fel’s daughter. The heroes retrieve her, and the alliance with the Chiss is somewhat spared. After a few more stops and battles with the Vong along the way, the Jedi finally make it to Zonoma Sekot. Thankfully, despite the current residents being very opposed to outsiders, the Jedi are able to establish their connection with the history of the planet, proving their connection to Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker. This gives everyone on the planet a sense of security in working with the Jedi, and they start to come up with a plan that would reunite Zonoma Sekot with the Yuuzhan Vong. Luke prevents Zonoma Sekot from going to the dark side, because it has a large connection with the Living Force, and the planet performs a hyperspace jump to the center of the galaxy.

As the war continues, so does Leia’s search for allies, which previously included bringing together the New Republic, Hapan Consortium, and the Imperial Remnant. Later, the Chiss Ascendancy would also join in the battle against the Vong. But the New Republic’s connections with all of these forces was always somewhat tenuous. Now, Admiral Pallaeon Gillead wants to formally join the Imperial Remnant and New Republic together, bringing them into an official treaty. Some members of the Remnant stand against this, and Pallaeon ultimately imprisons those who do. Leia also tries to bring Bastion into the Alliance, hoping to add both the Ssi-ruuk and the P’w’eck into the alliance. This alliance is hampered by the Vong, who act as a Ssi-ruuk in an effort to throw off the union.

While the New Republic looks forward to victory, the cost of war is still high. Jedi Saba Sebatyne realizes that in battling the Vong, she is actually destroying her own people. Tahiril Veila is beset by fainting spells, which cause her to lose consciousness at the worst times. Nom Amor sees the cost of war as he becomes a leader in a heretic clan after losing his leadership position in orthodox Vong circles. He becomes a prophet for the Shamed Ones, a class of Vong that has been rejected by the gods or, more accurately, rejected in orthodox circles and left to fend for themselves. Overlord Shimrra realizes that he’s paying for his treatment of Nom Amor when the Shamed One heresy starts to undermine the foundation of orthodox Vong beliefs. The crew of the Millennium Falcon also accidentally massacre innocents on a planet called Esfandia, which causes more ripples in a possible galactic alliance.

As Luke and Leia are able to bring together new allies in the form of Zonoma Sekot and the Imperial Remnant, anti-Vong forces are winning small victories across the galaxy. The Imperial Remnant wins a battle at Borosk,  New Republic and Rin spies are able to eek out a victory on Galantos, and the Imperial Remnant and New Republic find combined victory at Esfandia. All of these, coupled together, push the war to its climax. With only a few minor wrinkles to iron out, a final prophecy foretells of a coming victory….
