Especially here in Wisconsin, November is when fall comes on strong and we begin to hunker down inside, watching football or spending more time with family and friends (even more so if someone else is cooking!), so having a lot of Star Wars comics would be perfect to help pass the time between the next gathering. Luckily, as we can see in November 2022’s solicitations for Star Wars comics, there’s a lot to enjoy, from more The High Republic Phase II stories, new comics like Hidden Empire or Revelations, a metric ton of worry about Doctor Aphra, Yoda-centric adventures, and more! Check out the Star Wars comics November 2022 solicitations below!
MARVEL
Bounty Hunters #28 (on sale 11/2)
Ethan Sacks (Writer), Paolo Villanelli (Artist)
Cover by Giuseppe Camuncoli | Connecting Variant Cover by Ken Lashley | Revelations Variant Cover by Taurin Clarke
PANIC AT THE ACCRETION DISCO!
- The bounty hunters are locked in a desperate attempt to escape the pull of a black hole!
- To make matters worse, the Pykes are out to kill them first!
- Meanwhile, what will Valance have to sacrifice to serve the Empire?
A+ solicitation game, Mr. Sacks (or whomever wrote this). Panic at the Accretion Disco…I see what you did there! With humor like that, I don’t think we’ll be running into Interstellar-like black hole physics for the hunters, but I look forward to the art if we can see it often in the background of scenes. And it looks like things might be coming to ahead with Valance and his time with the Empire.
The High Republic – The Blade #1 (on sale 11/2)
Charles Soule (Writer), Marco Castiello (Artist)
Cover by Giuseppe Camuncoli | Variant Covers by John McCrea / David Baldeón
- Hundreds of years before the Skywalker Saga, witness the rise of a legend – the might Jedi PORTER ENGLE, perhaps the most skilled lightsaber wielder in the High Republic.
- With his fellow Jedi Knight Barash, he travels the galaxy, serving as a guardian of peace and justice.
- But even Porter Engle has enemies he cannot defeat.
At the Celebration Anaheim panel, Soule elaborated on The Blade a bit and how it would reveal the origin of the Barash Vow, a path a Jedi can take where they must remove themselves from activities related to the Order and focus solely on the Force (first introduced in Soule’s Darth Vader run). He also said Engle would be traveling with his sister…so is this the Jedi Knight Barash mentioned in the solicit?! If so, and he’s already said tragedy strikes, whatever happens with him and his sister is why the Barash Vow is founded (I’m assuming Engle will name it himself and be the first to take it….the first of some 14,000!). Things are going to be personal, emotional, and I cannot wait to read this 4 issue miniseries as part of The High Republic’s second phase!
Star Wars #29 (on sale 11/2)

The REBEL ALLIANCE is in crisis!
With their supply lines in jeopardy due to unfulfilled promises from CRIMSON DAWN, GENERAL LEIA ORGANA knows it is just a matter of time before the Rebels run out of crucial supplies.
Fortunately, AMILYN HOLDO has a solution…a hunt for a vast hoard of fuel thought lost for centuries.
It’s time…for a treasure hunt!
Look, I almost didn’t need to read a solicit to want this issue…just look at that gorgeous cover by E.M. Gist!! But now I know the team is going on a treasure hunt, with Holdo to boot?! I am so here for this! I imagine the fuel lost for centuries will be a nice little wink and nod to the High Republic somehow, while I am TOTALLY SHOCKED (read: not at all) Crimson Dawn isn’t following through with its promises, though I’m sure it has more to do with increased pressure from the Empire than anything sinister on Qi’ra’s part.
The Mandalorian #5 (on sale 11/2)
Rodney Barnes (Writer), Georges Jeanty (Artist)
Cover by Stephanie Hans | Variant Covers by E.M. Gist / Rachael Stott | Concept Art Variant Also Available
“The Gunslinger”!
On a familiar desert planet, the Mandalorian helps a rookie bounty hunter who is in over his head.
The episode that both brought us Ming-Na Wen in Star Wars via Fennec Shand and then abruptly took her away…though thankfully that wasn’t the end of her story or else it would be easy to forget. Here’s my review of the episode!
Revelations #1 (on sale 11/9)
Marc Guggenheim (Writer), Salvador Larroca, Paco Medina, & More (Artists)
Cover by Phil Noto | Variant Covers by Peach Momoko / Bryan Hitch / Jim Cheung
THE CAN’T-MISS STAR WARS ISSUE OF THE YEAR!
- After WAR OF THE BOUNTY HUNTERS came CRIMSON REIGN…now in the midst of HIDDEN EMPIRE, Qi’ra has shaken the galactic landscape to its core!
- …But what lies beyond for the Rebellion? For the Empire? What role do the bounty hunters play? And what is happening to Doctor Aphra?
- Witness the next step in the legacy of heroes and scoundrels in the galaxy far, far away as MARC GUGGENHEIM (HAN SOLO & CHEWBACCA) is joined by a ragtag team of artists to bring you an explosive tale you won’t soon forget!
- The path to the future of STAR WARS starts here!
Per the recent reveal of this big, important one-shot, Darth Vader visits the strange Eye of the Webbish Bog again and it’s why we get a bunch of visions of the past, present…and future of Star Wars comics! The fact Aphra is name dropped like she is here, makes me very worried about her and her future, while I’ve been betting on this being like the Empire Ascendant one-shot and we’ll be moving into a new era of Star Wars comics sometime in 2023! They’re really hyping up this 40-page issue and I hope it lives up to it! Regardless, the one-shot gives us this GORGEOUS Aphra cover by Peach Momoko, so for that alone I’m excited for it!
The High Republic #2 – Phase 2 (on sale 11/9)
Cavan Scott (Writer), Ario Anindito (Artist/Cover Artist)
Variant Covers by Rod Reis / Rachael Stott
DEATH STRIKES ON JEDHA!
- A Jedi lies dead in an ancient shrine, another on the trail of the murderer.
- Who is using ancient Force powers on the streets of the holy city, and why are sacred relics going missing?
- And why do all roads lead to the Temple of the Whills?
Our first trip to Jedha outside the Imperial era looks to be an extremely eventful and unique glimpse of strange and weird parts of the Star Wars galaxy. I’m getting more and more excited for this by the day, as Phase II of The High Republic is really gearing up to be a fun glimpse of an even further past than Phase I!
Hidden Empire #1 (on sale 11/16)
Charles Soule (Writer), Steven Cummings (Artist)
Cover by Paulo Siqueira | Variant Cover by Arthur Adams | Connecting Variant by Steven Cummings | Battle Variant Cover by Declan Shalvey | Destination Variant Cover by David Lopez
- The mysterious syndicate CRIMSON DAWN and its leader LADY QI’RA have become the galaxy’s most wanted criminals, as EMPEROR PALPATINE realizes the scope of Qi’ra’s plans against him and moves to destroy her.
- But Qi’ra still has tricks up her sleeve, and with the help of the KNIGHTS OF REN and her many other allies, she will not go down without a fight!
The finale to Qi’ra’s comic trilogy, which the recent reveal of its covers and chat with writer Soule hinted at this is only the end for THIS part of Qi’ra’s story, begins! I’m very intrigued to see where this all goes, as a recent issue of Soule’s Star Wars series revealed a very important mission some of her spies are taking to help topple the Emperor PLUS knowing the Knights of Ren always have the potential to flip.
Doctor Aphra #26 (11/16)
Alyssa Wong (Writer), Minkyu Jung (Artist)
Cover by W. Scott Forbes | Variant Cover by Paulina Ganucheau | Revelations Variant Cover by Taurin Clarke
“FRIENDS AND ENEMIES”
- Sana Starros and her allies have cornered the SPARK ETERNAL!
- She’s determind to bring DOCTOR APHRA back, no matter what it takes!
- But will it be enough? Or will it destroy Sana, Aphra…and everyone they love?
Speaking of being worried about Aphra’s future!!! This solicit is wrenching at my anxiety like a hammer on porcelain! It’s cool to hear Sana is sooo dead-set on saving Aphra, regardless the cost, and it really reveals how much Sana still actually cares about her. The Saga of the Spark Eternal continues and, if the previous 20 plus issues are anything to go by, it’s going to be an emotional, vibrant blast!
Han Solo & Chewbacca #7 (on sale 11/16)
Marc Guggenheim (Writer), Paul Fry (Artist)
Cover by Phil Noto | Variant Cover by Pasqual Ferry | Revelations Variant Cover by Taurin Clarke
THE RETURN OF [REDACTED]!
- Outgunned and outnumbered, Chewie makes a daring escape from prison!
- Greedo is on the run, and you wont’ believe who is after him!
- [REDACTED] is back! And boy, are they mad!
[REDACTED] is…I actually don’t know. Is it Corbus, Han’s totally not dad? Marshal Vancto? Khel? Krrsantan (isn’t he always mad?)? We’ll just have to wait to find out! I’m surprised, with only 10 issues total, that we’re switching artists to Paul Fry, but curious to see how his style fits for the remainder of the series.
Yoda #1 (on sale 11/23)
Cavan Scott (Writer), Nico Leon (Artist)
Cover (and Virgin Variant Cover) by Phil Noto | Variant Covers by Kaare Andrews / Giuseppe Camuncoli | Movie Variant Cover Also Available
ALL-NEW ADVENTURES FOR THE GREATEST JEDI OF ALL TIME!
- To some, he was a legend. To others, he was a teacher. Now Yoda is all but forgotten, living in exile and haunted by the past. As a strangely familiar voice echoes through the swamps of Dagobah, Yoda must revisit the many lessons he has given over the years, from the days of the High Republic to the chaos of the Clone Wars.
- In the first of three story arcs, a desperate cry for help reaches the Jedi Council on Coruscant and only Yoda can respond.
- But how far will he got to protect a community from attack?
It’s been a few months since the Yoda comic was first announced, which sees three creative teams bring us writing three different story arcs across Yoda’s long life: Cavan Scott and Nico Leon’s High Republic-set story kicks things off, taking place between the era’s second and first Phases. Yoda’s been at the periphery of the era so far, but came back in a big way at the end of Phase I, so a little more time with him and this era will be a nice change of pace. Later arcs will be by teams Jody Houser and Luke Ross, ending with Marc Guggenheim and Alessandro Miracolo.
Darth Vader #29 (on sale 11/30)
Greg Pak (Writer), Luke Ross (Artist)
Cover by Rahzzah | Variant Cover by Salvador Larroca | Revelations Variant Cover by Taurin Clarke
TECHNO (RE)UNION!
- Three decades ago, Anakin Skywalker slaughtered Wat Tambor, leader of the Techno Union, along with the rest of the Separatist leaders by the command of the Emperor.
- So who is the priate JUL TAMBOR, what is he planning on Skako Minor, and what will the Handmaiden, who now stands at Vader’s side, do when it’s her job to choose if Jul lives or dies?
- Also, which Handmaiden is this? And will this new adventure fulfill Sabé’s dream of derailing Vader’s journey to the dark side – or simply complete it?
Greg Pak has been digging up all sorts of prequel goodies throughout his run, so why stop now!? The idea of an avenging child of one of the Separatist leaders is a great one and I look forward to seeing how it’s handled. Plus, while I’ve been enjoying this series the longer Sabé sticks around, the more I see her name in the solicits the more I get worried about her ultimate fate…this can’t go on forever and this issue seems to hint it’s near!
DARK HORSE
Hyperspace Stories #3 (on sale 11/9)
Cecil Castellucci (Writer), Megan Huang (Artist/Cover Artist)
- On the run from the brutal First Order, General Leia Organa tasks Finn & Poe Dameron with an important mission to acquire vital supplies for the Resistance.
- But when the deal goes south, the two hatch a plan to snatch starship parts from a moving train!
- But, unbeknownst to them, a First Order officer and his squad of stormtroopers have other plans!
It’s fairly safe to say this is set between The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker, and anything to begin fleshing out that time period beyond the very few stories already set there is very welcomed at this point. Plus, it’s a train heist starring Finn and Poe, who doesn’t want to read that?!
The High Republic Adventures #1 – Phase 2 (on sale 11/30)
Daniel José Older (Writer), Toni Bruno (Artist/Cover Artist)
- For young Padawan Sav Malagán, joining the ranks of the novel Jedi Order has been all she’s ever wanted. But a chance encounter with a crew of eccentric misfits makes her question everything she’s taken for granted in her life.
- Trapped aboard the ship of infamous space pirate Maz Kanata, will Sav ever be able to rejoin the Jedi?
- And if she spends much longer with Maz and her crew, will she even want to?
The High Republic Adventures under Older’s tutelage and Bruno’s art is back as part of The High Republic – Phase II! While we’ve known from recent interviews and panels that THRA from Dark Horse would feature a younger Sav and Maz, the seeds were laid back in IDW’s The High Republic Adventures for Phase I, as there’s a sweet little moment of the two reminiscing on these exact adventures. I’m really looking forward to more comics from Older and getting to see these two at slightly younger parts of their long and storied lives!
