Novel Review: From a Certain Point of View – Return of the Jedi

– Minor Spoilers –

The finale 6 years in the making, From a Certain Point of View: Return of the Jedi closes out one daring, fun, and always exciting initiative to celebrate the 40th anniversary for each original trilogy film. Considering it would be at least 16 years before we’d ever see one again (yes, The Phantom Menace’s 40th is closer than I imagined), if they do one then, this is the end for the foreseeable future, and at least it went out on a high note. Despite 40 different authors across 40 different stories, an overarching theme, consistent quality of tales, mini-trilogy finales amongst the stories, and surprising choices lead to a finale which takes readers back to 1983 in the best way possible. Canon Novel Review: Shadow of the Sith

Slight Spoiler Review –

Written by Adam Christopher, Shadow of the Sith is one of the first big novels to explore a pivotal moment between the original and sequel trilogies, as it covers events first brought to light in The Rise of Skywalker regarding Rey’s past. While it wraps up several lingering threads which emerged once those details were revealed, in an entertaining, well-paced, and satisfying way, it builds off other works and injects some surprising and exciting new content to bolster the story to make for a memorable package that ascends its purpose. In a way, it reads like a classic Legends novel, expanding backstory only hinted at in the films while bringing in new elements, but also leaving a heavier dive into internal narration wanting. Shadow of the Sith Excerpt Unmasks A Sith

Shadow of the Sith, the upcoming novel by Adam Christopher which explores Luke Skywalker and Lando Calrissian’s journey to locate the Sith prior to the sequel trilogy and Ochi’s hunt for two parents looking to hide their daughter from her Sheev-y grandfather, already turned heads with its sweat inducing, thrilling, and downright shocking first excerpt. While this second excerpt isn’t as explosive, it’s just as intriguing in its own way, painting a bigger picture of how Christopher’s prose will keep readers on the edge of their seats and really inhabit the spooky nature of Palpatine’s return/the Sith Eternals’ actions in this time frame, but it also potentially reveals who is under the mask of the third character on the book’s cover. From the unsettling description of her mask and her dreams to the revelations she’s Pantoran, the Sith character who will in turn hunt Luke and Lando, as teased by io9, is someone we’ve meet before in the books, but I’ll have that answer below the cut (in case people want to avoid spoilers), as well as the big poster of the character exclusive to the Barnes and Noble edition of Shadow of Sith (out June 28). UPDATE: Our reviews are in! Continue reading “Shadow of the Sith Excerpt Unmasks A Sith”

Shadow-of-the-Sith-Reveal

Regardless of how you feel about Luke Skywalker’s appearances in recent TV shows, the excitement and anticipation for the upcoming novel Shadow of the Sith, which will explore his mission with Lando Calrissian to find Exegol prior to The Force Awakens, is through the stratosphere, especially for me. After the reveal of its cover and the first excerpt, doubly so! I won’t spoil anything if you want to go into the novel blind, but if you’ve been on the fence about this novel, I implore you to read the excerpt. I basically shut down at work as I read it, tuning everything out even a co-worker asked me if I was okay afterwards, so engrossed at what was unfolding for Luke Skywalker I found myself letting out a breath I didn’t know I was holding…and then tears came in the final few moments…*phew!* I’m getting overwhelmed just thinking about it again. It’s that good, you fine folks of the galaxy, and we’re in fantastic, thrilling hands with writer Adam Christopher. I can only imagine what other surprises and bombshells Shadow of the Sith will hold, as we know it’ll cover Rey’s parents story to some extent too, though thankfully we won’t have to wait too much longer, as it’s out June 28. Head below to check out the full cover and blurb, but do not miss out on this excerpt! UPDATE: Our reviews are in! Continue reading “Shadow of the Sith Cover, Excerpt Unleashed”
