Darth Vader – Dark Lord of the Sith #1 begins literally right where Revenge of the Sith left off, delving into the earliest days of Vader’s Sith training under Emperor Palpatine’s yoke. Written by Charles Soule, who hasn’t disappointed yet with his 3 other Star Wars series, with an art team consisting of Giuseppe Camuncoli, Cam Smith, and David Curiel, the Dark Lord’s first trials come to a brutal and satisfying light in a promising start to the next Darth Vader series! Considering the news of the Captain Phasma miniseries dropped in a different panel, Marvel’s panel was light on news but showed off some interior art for some upcoming issues and there were fun chats with creatives and editors alike. The most interesting thing to come out of the panel is that us in attendance might of sort of convinced the Marvel powers that be to make an Ahsoka series? Details below!

Consider me completely surprised and initially perplexed by this announcement: we’re getting a new Darth Vader comic in June, a second series subtitled Dark Lord of the Sith, set mere seconds after the events of Revenge of the Sith. Considering the first series only just finished its run a few months back and is highly lauded by most fans and critics, it seems a little strange to go back to Vader so soon, but the potential hidden in the story Darth Vader: Dark Lord of the Sith wants to tell, like focusing on Vader as a character getting used to his new life or the start of the Inquisitors first seen in Star Wars Rebels, and it being written by Charles Soule, I feel like there’s enough here to actually get excited for it.
