In E.K. Johnston’s Crimson Climb, readers are taken back to Qi’ra’s early days in the criminal syndicate Crimson Dawn, showing her journey of scrumrat to trusted lieutenant of the dreadful Dryden Vos. While secondary characters get the short stick and the story takes some time to pick up, Crimson Climb is buoyed by an excellent characterization of Qi’ra, intriguing glimpses into the criminal underworld, and an ending which will leave fans asking for more. Qi’ra entered legendary status thanks to Emilia Clarke’s performance of the character in Solo: A Star Wars Story and fans have been clamoring for more of her and her story ever since. In 2020, she shocked fans by returning in a big comics crossover and continues to dominate the storyline as she attempts to take on the Sith ruling the galaxy, in full control of Crimson Dawn. While an excellent book has already glimpsed her life prior to the start of the film, E.K. Updates regarding the much anticipated From a Certain Point of View: The Empire Strikes Back have been sparse to non-existent since its announcement but one of the most moments leading up to its release has finally happened: social cards revealing who or what each of the 40 authors is writing about! From a Certain Point of View was such a fun and unique way to celebrate A New Hope’s 40th Anniversary, The Empire Strikes Back’s own 40th birthday wouldn’t feel the same without it, and thankfully Del Rey announced From a Certain Point of View: The Empire Strikes Back, out November 10!
