Billed as a crossover event between Marvel and Del Rey’s Alphabet Squadron novel, Jody Houser’s TIE Fighter miniseries came with expectations it wasn’t designed to meet. Having had some time to think on the series, and rereading it all together, TIE Fighter’s character focus certainly engaged, but it was never enough for readers to neither connect to the characters nor distract from plots which ended before you even realized they started, but had it not been linked to the novel, maybe it would’ve had a better chance. Star Wars Comics July 2019 Solicitations
While July could’ve celebrated Independence Day by finally breaking away from having Darth Vader in comics, it chose against it, but at least Tom Taylor will be free to go to the Age of Resistance as we get closer and closer to The Rise of Skywalker. Also in July, the new Star Wars comic creative team of Greg Pak and Phil Noto takes over from Kieron Gillen and, as we always should, we get a double dose of Doctor Aphra!
