Canon Comic Review: Star Wars #63

Star Wars #63

– Spoiler Review –

Star Wars #63 keeps the momentum and humor going from the start of “The Scourging of Shu-Torun” arc, Kieron Gillen’s last, but it ends with the reality sinking in that this won’t be all fun and games (in the best way possible). Continue reading “Canon Comic Review: Star Wars #63”

Canon Comic Review: Star Wars #62

Star Wars #62

– Spoiler Review –

Star Wars #62 is the beginning of the end for writer Kieron Gillen, as “The Scourging of Shu-Torun” arc will be his last, and this issue feels like a proper start to what can only be described as the culmination of Gillen’s entire run. Continue reading “Canon Comic Review: Star Wars #62”

Canon Comic Review: Star Wars #61

Star Wars #61

– Spoiler Review –

Star Wars #61 might not be the best issue of rather great “The Escape” arc, it wraps it all up with a nice little bow, pointing us towards writer Kieron Gillen’s conclusion later this year. Continue reading “Canon Comic Review: Star Wars #61”

Canon Comic Review: Star Wars #60

Star Wars #60

Star Wars issue #60 assuages most of my fears from the previous issue (and solicits) by going in directions I didn’t predict/expect, making for an excellent penultimate issue for “The Escape” arc. Continue reading “Canon Comic Review: Star Wars #60”

Comic News: Kieron Gillen Eyes Exit of Star Wars Comic

Kieron Gillen has announced, via his newsletter, his plans to leave the Star Wars series with issue #67, the ending to his next arc, “The Scourging of Shu-Torun.” Gillen took over the Star Wars series from original writer Jason Aaron in 2017, starting his run with issue #38, making this a 30-issue run. He seems to be done with the storytelling era between A New Hope/Empire Strikes Back, and I don’t blame him considering most of the comics have taken place during the timeframe and he’s only written series which fall within it. It’ll be sad to see him go, as he’s brought a fun new energy to the SW series, he’s been around since the very start with his first Vader series, and he created the wonder that is Doctor Aphra (my favorite character), but maybe he’ll be back, someway, somehow. Some other thoughts about the Star Wars series’ future below! Continue reading “Comic News: Kieron Gillen Eyes Exit of Star Wars Comic”
