Star Wars Comics September 2019 Solicitations

Age of Resistance overloads in September, finishing up its run, and the entirety of the “Age of Star Wars” maxiseries with some big sequel trilogy names, like Rey, Rose, Kylo, and Snoke (good luck to the artist having to draw Snoke’s golden robes!), while Doctor Aphra hits its “Unspeakable” penultimate issue, the video game prequel Jedi: Fallen Order – Dark Temple begins introducing players to its story, and some rock monsters mind probe Threepio; you know, totally ordinary business. As Marvel celebrates 80 years, they teamed up with Lucasfilm to bring life back to their original Star Wars comics run from the 70/80’s for one more issue, and it’s a love letter to the wackiness and mythos of that run, as well as to fans who enjoyed it all those years ago. For fans like myself who never imbibed, it’s not as glorious of a return, but it’s still a fun diversion, good remembrance, and a measurement of how much/how little has changed. Star Wars Comics August 2019 Solicitations

By the end of August 2019, both the 14-acre Star Wars theme park expansions will be open, signaling a new era for ways to interact with the Saga, making it feel a little less far, far away. And as fans gear up for The Rise of Skywalker and The Mandalorian, the comics continue the beat of their own drums, though with the Galaxy’s Edge and TIE Fighter minis coming to an end, what might take their place? We don’t have an answer yet, so spend August enjoying Doctor Aphra antics, the early beginnings of Greg Pak’sStar Wars, and Kylo Ren marooned on a planet with General Hugs Hux in the Age of Resistance, among others! Star Wars Comics July 2019 Solicitations

While July could’ve celebrated Independence Day by finally breaking away from having Darth Vader in comics, it chose against it, but at least Tom Taylor will be free to go to the Age of Resistance as we get closer and closer to The Rise of Skywalker. Also in July, the new Star Wars comic creative team of Greg Pak and Phil Noto takes over from Kieron Gillen and, as we always should, we get a double dose of Doctor Aphra! Han Solo – Imperial Cadet fills in Solo: A Star Wars Story’s three year time jump with a fun, low stakes stay for Han in the Imperial Academy, where its secondary characters are more intriguing than the main because he doesn’t have as much growth as they do, resulting in a miniseries that’s not vital for enjoyment of the film but has plenty of enjoyable moments on its own. Han Solo – Imperial Cadet #1 begins an intriguing miniseries that will cover Han’s time in the Imperial Academy during the time-jump in Solo: A Star Wars Story, something I’m way more excited for than another adaptation. While the first issue doesn’t quite live up to the description made at NYCC, Star Wars meets Full Metal Jacket meets Stripes(what could?), it offers some fun potential I hope it can take advantage of in the next four issues. Star Wars Comics January 2019 Solicitations

2019 isn’t quite here yet, but the solicitations for Marvel and IDW’s comics for January 2019 are! On Marvel’s side, the Age of Republic gets three exciting issues including a jam-packed special, some favorites return to star in Doctor Aphra, some not-so-favorites return to star in Star Wars, and more! As for IDW, they have the end to The Flight of Falcon multi-media series with Hondo Ohnaka hijinks, plus Padmé and Jar Jar on an adventure…what more could you ask for?! Star Wars Comics December 2018 Solicitations and New Age of Star Wars Maxi-series Details

This is the first December without a Star Wars movie release since 2015, so when Star Wars Resistance takes an inevitable winter break, what better to snuggle down with than some new comics!?
