Star Wars Comics July 2022 Solicitations

Star-Wars-Comics-July-2022-Solicitations

July is set to be a refreshing month for Star Wars comics, as many of the current series’ reach their 25th issue mark, closing out storylines and beginning new ones…well, if they actually come out in July. Unfortunately, the global issues with shipping, printing, and paper are still affecting comics and many of April, May, and June’s have slipped into different months, with several from June and even May releasing in July now. So these issue below likely won’t be out in July due to the landslide effects (maybe August?), but they are exciting looks at where things will go once the Star Wars comics get there. Check out “July’s” Star Wars comic solicitations below, where we see Sana Starros leading a crew to rescue Aphra (?!?), the chaos Qi’ra unleashes on the galaxy, a deadly mission during the Clone Wars for Obi-Wan, and more! Star Wars Comics June 2022 Solicitations

Star-Wars-Comics-June-2022-Solicitations

Compared to last June‘s Star Wars comics solicitations, 2022 might not have anything as big as the War of the Bounty Hunters crossover, in fact we have a break from Qi’ra’s comic trilogy, but it is packed with issues that should interest fans of all eras. June kicks off The Mandalorian‘s adaptation comic, Qui-Gon Jinn guest appearances in the Obi-Wan comic (and maybe Obi-Wan show!), Chelli Aphra has to battle her memories to escape her latest problems, while Charles Soule digs up tales across his Star Wars comics career for a truly spectacular and epic 25th issue for his current Star Wars run. June will once again have Pride Month variants, though they haven’t been revealed yet and I have some hopes Lucasfilm/Marvel will do a little better this time around (especially in light of everything going on with the company). Head below for all the details on Star Wars comics’ June 2022 solicitations! UPDATED 4/13: There’s been a lot of delays at the moment, so you’ll find a few June comics are actually ones from either April or May…I’ve updated the dates for the original June releases below. Canon Comic Review: Han Solo & Chewbacca #1

Han-Solo-Chewbacca-1-Review-Mynock-Manor-A

– Spoiler Review –

Han Solo & Chewbacca #1 kicks off a brand-new series by writer Marc Guggenheim and artist David Messina, exploring the heists and cons of the titular pair in the years before A New Hope. While the series captures the banter and partnership of Han and Chewie, and introduces a lot of intriguing elements (including a last page reveal confirming a theory of mine), but its largely plot-proof cast means there’s not a lot of stakes yet. Star Wars Comics May 2022 Solicitations

Star-Wars-Comics-May-2022-Solicitations

Look, everyone fights about whether May the Fourth or May 25 is the actual Star Wars Day, but why argue over semantics when we could have a whole month?! Star Wars month?! That’s what May should be, as far as I’m concerned, especially with this excellent list of comics full of potential and surprises, while the premiere of the Obi-Wan Kenobi show happens as well! For May’s 2022 Star Wars comics solicitations, there’s the beginning of the new Obi-Wan comic, tons of characters returning to the lives of Han Solo and Darth Vader, Chelli Aphra is in big trouble and I’m stressing out about it (what’s new!), and so much more! While there’s only a preview for one of the covers (Peach Momoko’s Obi-Wan variant), May also hosts a Japanese Variant Cover spread, which brings well-known Japanese artists to Star Wars for a series of variant covers, so there’s that to look forward to as well! Head below for all the details! UPDATE 4/13: There’s a lot of delays happening at the moment, so many of May’s issues have slipped into June and beyond, with April‘s delays falling into May. Hopefully this doesn’t get any worse. Continue reading “Star Wars Comics May 2022 Solicitations”

Star Wars Comics April 2022 Solicitations

Star-Wars-Comics-April-2022-Solicitations

April 2022 comics bring many surprises for the entire Star Wars comics run, from the Knights of Ren ransacking Vader’s Castle for Qi’ra, Han finding more twists on his latest heist, the promise of only one survivor on Dr. Aphra’s latest quest, and so much more. There’s still no word on when Dark Horses’ contributions will begin (besides some The High Republic related content in October), so it’s all Marvel below. Check out Star Wars comics’ April 2022 solicitations now! UPDATE 4/13: Several of the comic release dates have changed, with a few slipping into May, June, and even July. Star Wars Comics March 2022 Solicitations

Star-Wars-Comics-March-2022-Solicitations

March’s Star Wars comics in 2022 sadly take a break from the High Republic era, as its first Phase ends earlier in the year, and goes all in on its post-The Empire Strikes Back push, as Qi’ra’s galaxy-brain plans explore her operatives’ pasts, the Rebellion Fleet reunion enters its final leg, Aphra returns to her…university, maybe, and so much more. Plus, March sees the start of a new series, Han Solo & Chewbacca, which promises a final page reveal you won’t want to miss…so I break down some options below. Check it all out! Marvel Announces Han Solo & Chewbacca On-going Comic for March 2022, Stories of Jedi & Sith Cover

Han Solo & Chewbacca Comic Announced,

We’ve had a Chewbacca miniseries in 2015 and a Han Solo one in 2016, so to quote the famous meme/gif: why not both?! Marvel announced today a new on-going comic starring the close-knit pair, Han Solo & Chewbacca, set to release in March 2022, which will be written by Marc Guggenheim, with art by David Messina. Set a few years prior to A New Hope, the comic will follow the smugglers’ chaotic lifestyle leading up to their fateful meeting with a young moister farmer, exploring jobs they took with Jabba the Hutt and more. Read below for more details from the interview with Guggenheim, which helped turned me from a shrug to cautiously optimistic about this. Plus, see the full cover for upcoming anthology Stories of Jedi & Sith! Continue reading “Marvel Announces Han Solo & Chewbacca On-going Comic for March 2022, Stories of Jedi & Sith Cover”

Canon Comic Maxiseries Review: Age of Star Wars

Age of Star Wars Maxiseries Review

Focusing on Heroes and Villains from all three current eras, with different writers and artists for each Age, the Age of Star Wars maxiseries was an ambitious and interesting project from the start. While it didn’t always live up to expectations, it brought deep explorations of fan favorites and little glimpses into unseen moments Continue reading “Canon Comic Maxiseries Review: Age of Star Wars”

Canon Comic Miniseries Review: Age of Rebellion

Age of Rebellion Miniseries Review 2

Age of Rebellion is the middle “Age” of the Age of Star Wars maxiseries, but having to follow in the footsteps of Houser and team’s Republic seemed like a difficult job. Greg Pak, a few other writers, and the various artists along for the ride delved into the latest “Age” with aplomb, and while most of it was simply good, it’s highs were quite the zenith.
