The latest trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is here and brings tons of new details, including looks into the story of the Ersos, mainly Jyn and her father Galen, while trying to show there could be hope in such a dark time for the Rebellion. It also showcases how the film, as previously reported, was shot over the shoulder by director Gareth Edwards to make it feel like viewers were right down in the trenches with the rebels. This perspective also has the effect of making the Empire feel much larger and even more insurmountable than ever before (plus that shot of Vader busting through mist has me shaking in my boots every time I see it, especially after reading the excellent Darth Vader comic series). It’s hard to have hope looking at the daunting power of the Empire, but damn it Jyn is going to try to make us have a little of it just to see this through. I know I’ll give hope, and Rogue One, a try come December 16 later this year. Check below the cut for the new poster! While I’ve written up a few articles already for what I managed to see at Celebration Europe 2016 mid-July, but I’m not going to be able to cover all of what I did and didn’t see in as much detail as normal. However, this article will cover the best of the rest in regards to news and reveals you might have missed (and I didn’t make a separate article for), including the very unsurprising reveal of the young Han Solo actor, some teases from Rian Johnson regarding Ep. VIII, author reveals for upcoming Rogue One related novels, new Battlefront DLC bringing space battles and Rogue One content this year, and more! Ahsoka’s Untold Tales Panel Impressions (SWCE 2016)
For any fan of The Clone Wars breakout character Ahsoka Tano, her Untold Tales Panel was an absolutely must see. While panelists Dave Filoni (executive producer of Rebels), Pablo Hildalgo (Story Group), and Ashley Eckstein (Ahsoka Tano), didn’t clear up her fate after the Star Wars Rebels Season Two finale, they did a deep dive into some remaining unproduced TCW episodes which included her having a boyfriend (and Asain lead!), a journey into the Sith Temple below the Jedi Temple, and the Ahsoka Loyalist troops, while also revealing her novel’s cover art, vague and metaphorical Topps cards about her fate, and one giant promise about whether we’ll see her or not again. Star Wars Show Launches, Reveals Special Star Wars Celebration Europe 2016 Rogue One Panel
https://youtu.be/dcj_IRwHYPI&w=525&h=295
Above is the first episode of the Star Wars Show, a weekly look (every Wednesday) at what’s happening with the saga from some lovely folks on the inside of Lucasfilm itself: Andi Gutierrez (who you might recognize from the insightful Rebels Recon series) and newcomer Peter Townley. The first episode includes an interview with director Duncan Jones (Moon,World of Warcraft), new Maz Kanata’s Castle footage, and the reveal of a special panel for Star Wars Celebration Europe 2016 (July 15-17) involving Rogue One’s Gareth Edwards, Kathleen Kennedy, and “special guests.” If the panel will be anything like Celebration Anahiem’s opening ceremonies last year, expect “special guests” to be the cast from RO and possibly a new teaser. And, by the way, my candidate for the mouse droid’s name for the Star War Show is “Short Round.” What names did you have in mind?
