July is fast approaching and plans for Celebration Europe 2016 are taking shape. Rogue One looks to be the main focus, and rightfully so considering the film is coming out later this year, while Star Wars Rebels is carving out its own place year after year. New details on what to expect are below! Continue reading “SWCE 2016 News Roundup: Star Wars Rebels Season 3 Premiere, Rogue One Props, Podcast Stage”

Star Wars Show Launches, Reveals Special Star Wars Celebration Europe 2016 Rogue One Panel
https://youtu.be/dcj_IRwHYPI&w=525&h=295
Above is the first episode of the Star Wars Show, a weekly look (every Wednesday) at what’s happening with the saga from some lovely folks on the inside of Lucasfilm itself: Andi Gutierrez (who you might recognize from the insightful Rebels Recon series) and newcomer Peter Townley. The first episode includes an interview with director Duncan Jones (Moon,World of Warcraft), new Maz Kanata’s Castle footage, and the reveal of a special panel for Star Wars Celebration Europe 2016 (July 15-17) involving Rogue One’s Gareth Edwards, Kathleen Kennedy, and “special guests.” If the panel will be anything like Celebration Anahiem’s opening ceremonies last year, expect “special guests” to be the cast from RO and possibly a new teaser. And, by the way, my candidate for the mouse droid’s name for the Star War Show is “Short Round.” What names did you have in mind? Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’s First Teaser Trailer Rebels in all the Right Ways
“This is a Rebellion, isn’t it? I rebel.” With those simple words Jyn Erso, played by Felicity Jones, has already become a favorite of mine and many others. On top of that, from the pan over of the Death Star, Donnie Yen’s brief beat down of a stormtrooper, Mon Mothma, and those AT-ATs in the sand, the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story trailer has proven a Star Wars film doesn’t need “Episode” before it to feel like a Star Wars film; Which is very good news for the A Star Wars Story brand. Some hi-res stills and extended thoughts below, but in short: December feels so much further away now than it did yesterday! D23 Expo: Rogue One Cast Revealed, Ep. IX Director, Star Wars Land News
After all the build up for The Force Awakens this week thanks to Entertainment Weekly, it wasn’t crazy to wonder just what else Lucasfilm could bring for their portion of the live-action panel at the D23 Expo this morning. They delivered on a scale most didn’t expect, as they announced the Rogue One cast (and stealthily rebranded the Anthology films into A Star Wars Story), a director for Episode IX was revealed, and dropped the bomb that TWO 14 ACRES Star Wars Lands are being planned. I’ll let that last part settle in and when you’re done hyperventilating, continue reading below for the details. Continue reading “D23 Expo: Rogue One Cast Revealed, Ep. New Star Wars Anthology Series: Rogue One Details Revealed (SWCA 2015)
Only Gareth Edwards showed up to the spin-off film panel, but some notable guests joined him like Kathleen Kennedy, Kiri Hart, John Knoll, and Pablo Hildalgo hosted. Not only did they have a short teaser prepared, but they revealed the spin-offs were to be branded the Star Wars Anthology Series (and now re-branded “A Star Wars Story”), there was a summary of the plot of Rogue One, possible in-universe connections, the genesis behind the idea, and key members of the crew. Oh, and that Edwards visited the Tunisia sets for his 30th birthday. Yes, it was a surprisingly busy panel. Continue reading “New Star Wars Anthology Series: Rogue One Details Revealed (SWCA 2015)”
