After artist Grant Griffin’s moody Phase III opening cover for The Eye of Darkness, he returns with a moody in whole different way cover for the second and penultimate adult novel of the Phase: June 11’s Temptation of the Force! Dropping this cover, which sees Elzar Mann and Avar Kriss sharing a rather intimate look now they’ve been reunited, as well as the blurb, which only doubles down on their growing feelings, on Valentine’s Day was a wonderfully calculated move; we see what you’re doing! Head below for the full angsty cover and to hear some teases of what’s to come in June with Tessa Gratton’s Temptation of the Force! Comic News: Darth Maul Stars in Latest Black, White & Red Miniseries, Out April 2024
Darth Vader certainly brought the chills in his, and Star Wars’ first, Black, White & Red miniseries, though considering how much Vader content we’ve had, it didn’t quite hit as hard. Now Darth Maul enters the ring for his own Black, White & Red miniseries and, given his spooky and bloody publishing history plus his iconic, devilish look, I do believe he’ll make even more of a splash in this format. Out April 25, 2024, the four-issue series will have a different creative team for each entry, with first featuring Benjamin Percy and Stefano Raffaele. Check out a few more details, as well as some wicked cool covers, for the first issue below, otherwise visit the Manor for our reviews starting April! The Mandalorian & Grogu Film Announced, Season 2 of Ahsoka Confirmed
After the way things ended in The Mandalorian season three, a disappointingly easy and far too quick conclusion to the series’ story so far, Jan Favreau and the story get to fail upwards in the first new Star Wars film to go into production, The Mandalorian & Grogu. Is it the start of a series of films? Is it bringing Din Djarin and Grogu’s story to an end? Or just picking it up until Dave Filoni’s film wraps up all the Mando-verse shows story? Will Pedro Pascal be more than the voice of Din for the film at least? Why couldn’t it just be another, shorter season of the show instead? And…is that really the title? Hopefully we’ll learn more soon since it’s set to be in production later this year. Also stealthily announced was a second season of Ahsoka, which was all but certain given how it all ended, but never confirmed until now. The Mandalorian & Grogu joins the upcoming slate of films which includes Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy’s Rey/New Jedi Order (my most anticipated!), James Mangold’s Dawn of the Jedi, and the aforementioned Dave Filoni one.

Comic News: Doctor Aphra Vol. 2 Ending with Issue #40
Sometimes, you just need to rip the Band-Aid off and get it over with, and as much as this one is going to hurt, it’s better than not knowing. Alyssa Wong took to Twitter today to confirm what we’ve been dreading since the January 2024 solicits first dropped: their run of Doctor Aphra (Vol. 2) is officially ending at issue #40. There was no way it would go on forever, as much as myself and all the other fans would’ve wanted, and issue #40 is where the first Volume ended as well, so it was inevitable to some degree but still heartbreaking to see. This series has meant so much to so many different people, from its groundbreaking representation in the Saga, its depiction of broken yet resourceful people just trying to get by in a harsh universe, the humorous exploits for all involved, one of the longest and most interesting arcs in the character’s history, and lots and lots of heartbreak for its many characters trying to find happiness…I could go on, but we all know what we love about it and are grieving in our own ways with this. With only two issues left, I’m glad it’ll get to close out with a finale that’s not a Dark Droids crossover tie-in, while Alyssa Wong has promised we should keep an eye out on December’s Revelations #1 (2023) and the future (they said their “current” run is ending and I can’t help but focusing on that word). Chelli Aphra is my favorite character and it’s never easy to know her story is done, for now, but these glimmers of hope are a nice touch to sad news. Check back to the Manor for the remaining reviews and news for whatever comes next! {Just the Tweet below the cut, if the link doesn’t work} Continue reading “Comic News: Doctor Aphra Vol. 2 Ending with Issue #40”
