skeleton crew teaster poster short

D23 hasn’t always been the place to go for Lucasfilm announcements or reveals, and it still was pretty subdued this year too (not even an The Acolyte season two announcement?!), but we did get our first public Skeleton Crew trailer, while panel-goers where treated to a sizzle reel for Andor season two and some brief shots from The Mandalorian and Grogu film. We also got a great look at the wild Rebuild the Galaxy LEGO special earlier in the day, so head below for a summary of what we all learned!

Skeleton Crew First Look reveal

With a LEGO set featuring the main ship from the upcoming Skeleton Crew show made its appearance in Target without any official reveal (prompting a pun I’m totally not sorry about) and Disney’s D23 convention coming up soon, it seemed like we were destined to finally see more about the Jude Law and kids-led show. People Magazine got the exclusive reveal, featuring the first official images and some new details, including the December 3 release date! Head below for more images and the new information! Final The Acolyte Trailer Promises the Truth is Out There

“No one is safe from the truth” is a wonderful little tagline for The Acolyte, as showrunner/executive producer Leslye Headland has teased multiple times now the show is sort of like an onion, peeling away something new right up until the finale. So one could say, in honor of a show I only started watching two years ago, the truth is out there, somewhere, and it’s up to The Acolyte‘s characters if they want to accept it or not. There’s plenty of mystery to unlock, just from the trailer alone: whose side is Qimir (Manny Jacinto) on, since we see him talking with Mae (Amandla Stenberg)? In the key art poster below, why are there two Mae’s and why does Headland tease this by saying “…embrace the duality that exists in every character,” as is she hinting Mae has a twin?! And Master Sol (Lee Jung-jae) asks the one everyone wants to know, “What are you?” to the masked, red-blade wielding character shown in the trailer’s final moments, whom Headland teases is her favorite character, as are they Sith or something else? June 4’s two episode premiere can’t come soon enough! Head below for the poster and some new Databank entries about characters, ships, and droids below! The Mandalorian & Grogu Film Announced, Season 2 of Ahsoka Confirmed

mandalorian grogu film announcement

After the way things ended in The Mandalorian season three, a disappointingly easy and far too quick conclusion to the series’ story so far, Jan Favreau and the story get to fail upwards in the first new Star Wars film to go into productionThe Mandalorian & Grogu. Is it the start of a series of films? Is it bringing Din Djarin and Grogu’s story to an end? Or just picking it up until Dave Filoni’s film wraps up all the Mando-verse shows story? Will Pedro Pascal be more than the voice of Din for the film at least? Why couldn’t it just be another, shorter season of the show instead? And…is that really the title? Hopefully we’ll learn more soon since it’s set to be in production later this year. Also stealthily announced was a second season of Ahsoka, which was all but certain given how it all ended, but never confirmed until now. The Mandalorian & Grogu joins the upcoming slate of films which includes Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy’s Rey/New Jedi Order (my most anticipated!), James Mangold’s Dawn of the Jedi, and the aforementioned Dave Filoni one.

High Republic Fan Favorites Bell Zettifar, Loden Greatstorm, and More Join Young Jedi Adventures! (Updated)

bell zettifar ember kai young jedi adventures

I’ve managed to catch a few episodes of Young Jedi Adventures since it premiered and thoroughly enjoyed what I’ve seen, especially as it’s delightful to see High Republic era things like Vectors, those bright gold robes, and NUBS all on screen. With the help of the original luminous writer Cavan Scott, Young Jedi Adventures will be the first to bring even more familiar sights of the High Republic era to TV screens, including Jedi Padawan Bell Zettifar and his trusty charhound Ember, Jedi Master Loden Greatstorm, Jedi Master Estala Maru, and Starlight Beacon itself! This is such amazing news for fans, as younger viewers will get to meet some of these characters before they can eventually read the novels/comics, while the High Republic fans will get to see some of the biggest favorites come to life beyond the page! Head below for the remaining screenshots, a new trailer, and a few other thoughts, otherwise catch these appearances in the “months ahead” on the show starting November 8! Final Ahsoka Trailer, Two-Episode Premiere August 23

This piece was written during the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Without the labor of the writers and actors currently on strike, this show wouldn’t exist. Consider supporting the strikes here.

When Ahsoka hits Disney+ on August 23, it’ll come with a two-episode premiere, all the better to maybe explain why Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) calls Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) “Master” and the two have such an icy relationship!!? The latest trailer is packed with new footage, including: a HD look at the face of Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen); beautiful shots of Lothal in live-action; Sabine’s Loth-cat decaled helmet; a canon E-Wing (!!!); the New Republic Fleet; what looks close to a Star Map from Knights of the Old Republic (seen in a place kind of like Malachor); lots more of Hera Syndulla (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) whose son Jacen’s live-action look was revealed by a LEGO set leak; Ezra Bridger’s (Eman Esfandi) little hologram speaks!; more of former Jedi Baylon Skoll (Ray Stevenson, Rest in Peace) and Shin Hati (Ivanna Sakhno), twisting Ahsoka’s famous “I am no Jedi” line; lots of Anakin Skywalker being mentioned, potentially hinting at rumors being true his Ghost or a flashback might be in the show; and that aforementioned and very intriguing icy history between Sabine and Ahsoka. I have doubts Sabine is Force-sensitive, wouldn’t be terribly mad about it if she is though, but interested to learn about the training between the two regardless, especially as Shin Hati tells Sabine she has no power. Head below for a whole bunch of screenshots from the trailer, as well as the little sizzle reel about Ahsoka and Dawson released a day before, along with a disclaimer about the actress.
