An unusual alliance is formed to face one of the galaxy’s most dangerous entities…but will it last? And what will happen to the Jedi who face dangers political and cosmic? Join today’s Legendary Adventures as we read Fate of the Jedi: Allies!
Jedi Grand Master Luke Skywalker finds himself in trouble. He and his son, Ben, are surrounded by Sith warriors – back from the dead and angry…but not angry with them. The Sith warriors provide a strange alliance between the two in order to defeat a terrible entity known to them only as Abeloth. Abeloth has attacked some of the Sith warriors who found her, and the Sith want to destroy her before they take over the galaxy. Vestara Khai, one of the Sith who has met Abeloth, is especially important to forming this alliance between the Jedi and the Sith, as she has started to develop feelings for Ben.
With the help of both C-3PO and Lando Calrissian, Luke gets closer to finding out the secrets behind his alliance with the Sith. He calls Lando for a ship that could lead him through the Maw Cluster, something he was told to do by the spirit of Mara Jade. He also calls C-3PO to translate a conversation between Vestara and her father, which was spoken in the ancient Keshiri language. This reveals the depth of their subterfuge in this alliance, and Luke tries to break the relationship between Ben and Vestara, which angers Ben and pushes him away.
Other strange alliances form around the galaxy. For one, Chief of State Natasi Daala is forced to be more friendly with the Jedi, not prosecuting them for holding prisoner Jedi who went mad from the Force affliction that has plagued many of their Order. As the Jedi accidentally begin to create a movement aimed at freeing slaves on Klatooine, public support continues to rise for them and Daala’s anti-Jedi sentiments are causing her to become less and less popular. Jagged Fel has been forced to work in favor of Tahiri Veila, currently on trial for killing the former commander of the Imperial Remnant, Admiral Gillad Pallaeon. This sort of puts Fel in a position where he has to work the Alliance more closely than he would currently like. This strains the relationship between Jagged and Jaina, and their eventual wedding is called off.
It is hard, at this rate, to tell where Daala’s true alliances lie. She again hires Mandalorians to attack the Jedi Temple, hoping they would be able to take in the Jedi they failed to get from the Order’s custody before. Even though Daala publicly backs off from being anti-Jedi, she simply cannot let them work their own justice on Jedi who have fallen victim from the Force madness. The Jedi who is acting as Grand Master in Luke’s place, Kenth Hamner, apparently refuses to fight Daala despite his own assistant being killed by Mandalorians.
With Lando’s help, Luke, Ben, and the Sith are able to move through the Maw Cluster and find Sinkhole Station. Or, at least, find where it should have been. Instead, they find a destroyed station, which they blame on Abeloth. Luke travels to a place on the planet where the Sith found Abeloth called the Beyond Shadows, where they plan to kill Abeloth. Luke is shocked to see Abeloth has taken the form of his former love, Callista Ming. Sometime in the past, Abeloth killed Callista, and took her form. After an intense battle between Abeloth, the Jedi, and the Sith, Abeloth is seemingly destroyed and the Force madness is lifted. He leaves the Beyond and finds Jaina, who notes pressure is mounting on the Jedi at home, and many have outstanding warrants for their arrest.
The Jedi and the Sith agree to work with one another to find out the origins of Abeloth and to make sure that she stays defeated…and inquire even deeper into the mystery of who she was and what is what she wanted. A couple of signs point to an extra-galactic vector in the Force that Luke especially feels the need to investigate. But the alliance is strained when Luke and Ben travel with Vestara…and the pressure mounts on the Jedi at home, a swirling vortex of chaos. With one enemy destroyed, will the galaxy finally have peace?
